Marvel Reveals the New Daredevil Creative Team

In February 2019, Marvel’s Daredevil ongoing series is getting relaunched with a new creative team. Chip Zdarsky and artist Marco Checchetto are taking the reins from Charles Soule and Phil Noto. The news was broken via Earth’s Mightiest Show on Marvel.com.

Soule has been working on Daredevil since 2015. He has collaborated with a rotating cast of artists that has included Noto, Ron Garney, and Stefano Landini. Soule kicked off his stint on the book by returning Matt Murdock to New York after his predecessor, Mark Waid, moved the character to San Francisco. Soule and Garney’s first arc also gave the Man Without Fear a new black and red costume. The writer’s swan song on the series, titled The Death of Daredevil, began last month with issue #609 and will conclude with issue #612 on November 28. In a teaser for the storyline, Soule explained that he wanted to follow in the footsteps of previous writers by “leaving Daredevil in the worst spot imaginable” at the end of his run.

Zdarsky recently finished his stint on Spectacular Spider-Man. His other writing credits include Howard the Duck and Jughead. Zdarsky also co-created Image Comics’ Sex Criminals with writer Matt Fraction. That book won the Eisner Award for Best New Series in 2014. Checchetto is best known for illustrating Marvel’s Star Wars titles, including Doctor Aphra and Captain Phasma.
