Ash and Elvis are Teaming Up for Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep

Bruce Campbell has become something of a cult icon over the last three decades. His unique persona has become instantly recognizable through his appearances in several comedic horror films. Because of this, one can only imagine the hilarity that would ensue if any of his characters got together..

Via The Hollywood Reporter, two of Campbell’s most famous characters will co-headline a new title from Dynamite Entertainment. The crossover, titled Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep, will naturally feature Ash Williams from the Evil Dead franchise and the “real” Elvis Presley as played by Campbell in 2002’s Bubba Ho-Tep. Scott Duvall and Vincenzo Federici will be the creative team launching the comic. The book is described as “a series of universe-spanning events that involve an Elvis jumpsuit with special time-travel abilities, a trip to ‘70s Vegas. Plus the reveal of an evil new Book of the Dead, the Necronomicon Ho-Tep.”

According to Duvall, the team-up is organic because Army of Darkness and Bubba Ho-Tep were spiritual siblings. “Often viewing [the films] in close succession, I knew the Ash and Elvis team-up would go together like peanut butter and banana,” said Duvall. “These two worlds already fit so well together in tone. It made it totally plausible that they could co-exist on the same plane. Wanting to see what it would be like if Ash and Elvis interact is a big part of what sparked this, and so I’m thrilled we’ll get to finally see that in these pages.”

The first issue of Army of Darkness/Bubba Ho-Tep will hit comic shops in February 2019. You can check out its full cover below. What are your thoughts on the two cult characters starring in their own series? Let us know in the comment section below!
