Variety reports that Warner Bros. Pictures’ Constantine, which cost under $100 million to make, has added $53.5 million internationally for a worldwide box office so far of about $104 million. Here’s clips from the article:
“Constantine” collared an estimated $18.6 million from bows in 11 territories and holdovers in 14 over the weekend but “Meet the Fockers” had the last laugh as it remained the B.O. champ overseas for the fifth consecutive frame.
Estimated “Constantine” cume climbed to $53.5 million, fueled by Australia’s beefy $2.4 million debut on 288 screens (No. 1), Italy’s $2.35 million on 360, Mexico’s top-ranked $2 million on 450 and Thailand’s $1.17 million on 220, with sneaks.
Keanu Reeves/Rachel Weisz starrer experienced typical drops for the genre in its second outings but has spooked a nonetheless sturdy $6.7 million so far in Germany, $4.7 million in Spain (still No. 1) and $6.2 million in France. South Korea has contributed a stellar $9.8 million through its third stanza.
Despite a big dropoff at the North American box office this weekend, things are still looking good for the movie.
