The Hollywood Reporter says Sony Pictures Imageworks’ Spider-Man 2 leads the nominees for the 3rd annual VES Awards for outstanding visual effects with six nominations.
Nominations in 19 categories recognizing outstanding visual effects in film, television, commercials, music videos and games were announced Sunday by the Visual Effects Society. The awards will be presented at the Hollywood Palladium on Feb. 16, at which time Robert Zemeckis will be recognized with a VES Lifetime Achievement by Tom Hanks. For outstanding visual effects in a visual effects driven motion picture, 20th Century Fox’s “The Day After Tomorrow” was nominated with “Azkaban” and “Spider-Man 2.”
