Creature Commandos: James Gunn Breaks Down New Additions to Task Force M

The Creature Commandos team got a shakeup ahead of its upcoming second season on Max. With multiple new members, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has broken down the surprising new inclusions to Task Force M.

Who is part of the new Creature Commandos team?

At the end of the Creature Commandos Season 1 finale, “A Very Funny Monster,” A.R.G.U.S. agent John Economos (Steve Agee) introduces the Bride (Indira Varma) to the new lineup for the titular team. Alongside returning members Doctor Phosphorus (Alan Tudyk), Weasel, and G.I. Robot (both Sean Gunn), the Season 2 lineup for Task Force X includes new additions Nosferata (a vampire), Khalis (a mummy), and King Shark, marking the DC Universe debut of the popular The Suicide Squad character.

In the finale, King Shark was voiced by Diedrich Bader, while Nosferata and Khalis, who are relatively obscure villains in the comics, made silent cameos. Gunn broke down the new additions to the Creature Commandos team for Rotten Tomatoes TV.

“Nosferata, King Shark, who we’ve met in Suicide Squad, so it’s basically that King Shark . . . new, improved G.I. Robot, he’s not dead after all. He’s a robot,” Gunn started. “Then Khalis. So we got a mummy happening. I’m pretty interested in how we do a mummy. I’ve never been a big mummy guy. I’m a werewolf guy if I’m being honest with you.”

Gunn also touched on Bader replacing Sylvester Stallone as King Shark for the character’s brief line of dialogue in the finale. “I thought he was great. He’s a great guy, and he came in and just did us a solid to come in here and do King Shark’s voice,” the DC head said. “You know it’s hard because you’re dealing with Sylvester Stallone’s iconic interpretation of King Shark, so Diedrach did an amazing job. He’s an amazing guy and an amazing voice actor.”
