The first Superman teaser trailer has finally arrived for the James Gunn movie.
Superman will be released in United States theaters in July 2025. Written and directed by Gunn, Superman marks the first official feature film set within Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU.

What is James Gunn’s Superman movie about?
“James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor, and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind,” the official synopsis reads.
The movie will see David Corenswet (Twisters, Pearl) play the titular superhero character. The cast of the movie further includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.
Additionally, the movie will also feature appearances from Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.
Superman will be released in United States theaters on July 11, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures as part of the DCU’s first chapter, which is titled “Gods and Monsters.”
Following Superman, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is directed by Craig Gillespie, has been given a June 26, 2026 release date. That movie will star Milly Alcock in the titular role, while Matthias Schoenaerts has been tapped to play the villain and Eve Ridley is playing Ruthye Mary Knolle.
It was also recently announced that a DCU Clayface movie written by Mike Flanagan will be released on September 11, 2026.
