Venom: The Last Dance Reviews Lead to Terrible Rotten Tomatoes & Metacritic Scores

Following early anticipation, Venom: The Last Dance has debuted to mixed reviews, earning low scores on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. Sony’s final installment in the Venom trilogy delivers a combination of action and humor, though it has received criticism for its plot and tone. The film brings Tom Hardy back as Eddie Brock, captivating long-time fans of the franchise.

Venom: The Last Dance reviews don’t match its positive reactions

Venom: The Last Dance has received mixed reviews, with critics acknowledging its humor and emotional beats but noting it may only appeal to fans of the previous installments.

Josh Wilding of ComicBookMovie.com called it “the biggest, best Venom movie yet,” while Aidan Kelley from Collider praised it as “the most entertaining of the trilogy.”

However, Kofi Outlaw from ComicBook.com was less enthusiastic, labeling it “a half-formed attempt at a serious superhero movie.” Outlaw noted that Venom: The Last Dance finishes the trilogy but ultimately falls short, saying it “would be considered average even by 2000s comic book movie standards.”

She noted the convoluted plot, where Eddie and Venom return from the MCU to face Knull, calling the inclusion of Andy Serkis as Knull “a prank played on comic book nerds.” She also expressed disappointment over the reduced screen time for Eddie and Venom.

Linda Marric from HeyUGuys highlighted the film’s creativity, stating, “one of the most exciting developments in The Last Dance is the introduction of new symbiotes.” Meanwhile, Nick Schager from The Daily Beast pointed out its improved CGI, stating, “the computer-generated effects in Venom: The Last Dance are an improvement over those in the noggin-chomping behemoth’s previous adventures.”

Venom: The Last Dance gets low Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic scores

Venom: The Last Dance has debuted with low scores on both Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. The film currently holds a Metascore of 42 based on 30 critic reviews, reflecting mixed to negative feedback from critics.

On Rotten Tomatoes, Venom: The Last Dance has a 39% score, highlighting criticism from early reviews. Critics have pointed out issues with the film’s plot and tone, with some noting that it brings “nothing new to the series.”

Venom: The Last Dance hit theaters on October 25, 2024, marking the final installment of the trilogy. The movie follows Eddie Brock and Venom as they face new challenges while being hunted by both their worlds. As more reviews come in, scores may fluctuate, but early reactions suggest Venom: The Last Dance may primarily appeal to long-time fans of the series.
