Storm: Lifedream Honors 50th Anniversary of Ororo Munroe

2024 has been a big year for Ororo Munroe. The last few months saw the mighty Mutant hero receiving a solo series and joining the Avengers. However, there is more in store for the woman called Storm in 2025. Marvel Comics has confirmed a new special, Storm: Lifedream, that will honor the legendary X-Men leader’s legacy and the 50th anniversary of her first appearance.

Storm: Lifedream will be released as part of the Marvel Voices line. This imprint is dedicated to marginalized heroes and creators. The anthology’s release will also be timed to coincide with Black History Month in the United States. This is appropriate given Ororo Munroe’s status as one of the most groundbreaking black heroes in pop culture history.

Storm: Lifedream will also feature an impressive line-up of award-winning black comic creators. The special will be spearheaded by journalist Angélique Roché. Another story will be written by Curtis Baxter, who recently made his Marvel Comics debut writing Miles Morales: Spider-Man. Other confirmed writers include best-selling author Brittney Morris and Eisner Award winner John Jennings. The art team is equally impressive, with Bloodline: Daughter of Blade artist Karen S. Darboe and Edwin Galmon confirmed thus far.

The frame story of Storm: Lifedream will center around a team of intergalactic historians who travel to Earth in the distant future. They have a significantly difficult time separating legend from fact in regards to the life of Ororo Munroe. This is due to the variety of stories depicting her as a thief, a goddess, a queen, and a hero. X-Men fans are well aware, however, that all these stories are true. For Storm, like her namesake, is too powerful to be contained by one label.

Storm: Lifedream arrives in comic shops everywhere on January 29, 2025.
