Marvel Removes Blade From Release Date Calendar, Predator: Badlands Takes Its Spot

Marvel Studios has removed Blade from its 2025 release calendar.

In July 2019, Marvel’s Kevin Feige officially announced that Mahershala Ali would star in a reboot of Blade. The MCU project has faced numerous hurdles since then, as directors Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange both signed on to direct the movie at separate times but then later exited.

The COVID-19 pandemic and 2023 Hollywood strikes also factored into the delayed Blade film.

Despite all the production issues, Blade was scheduled to release in United States theaters on November 7, 2025. Marvel has now removed the film from its release calendar, meaning it will no longer be coming out in November 2025.

Predator: Badlands is taking Blade’s release date

Instead, Predator: Badlands will be released on November 7, 2025. The movie, which will be the sixth entry in the Predator franchise (eighth when including the two Alien crossover movies), is being directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who helmed 2022’s Prey. Predator: Badlands is being released through 20th Century Studios, which is owned by Disney. It will star Elle Fanning.

Blade does not have an official director at this time, as Demange left the project in June 2024. Eric Pearson, who has worked on a number of Marvel projects including 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok and 2021’s Black Widow, is currently working on the script. Previous scripts were written by Michael Starrbury, Nic Pizzolatto, and Michael Green.

Mia Goth was also previously cast in the MCU Blade movie alongside Ali, the latter of whom has voiced his frustration over all of the film’s production delays before. Following Demange’s exit, Ali wrote on X, “Blade, lordylordylordy [eyes emoji] folks still lookin for the secret sauce, ridin snowmobiles in traffic, kinda rough. Daywalkers make it look easy, don’t they? [smiley face emoji]”

Blade does not have a release date at this time.
