The new Ultimate Universe has been a smashing success for Marvel Comics. However, the new setting has been curiously absent of most of the familiar Mutants. One particularly notable absence is one of Marvel‘s most popular heroes, the Wolverine. That absence will be explained in a new Ultimate Wolverine series, which will introduce a new take on the man called Logan.
True to the character’s origin as a government weapon, Ultimate Wolverine is an unwilling agent of the Maker. Mindwiped and used as an assassin, he’s still the best there is at what he does. However, he is completely helpless to decide who he does it to.
Comparison might be made to the Winter Soldier of the MCU. Indeed, in the Ultimate Universe, Ultimate Wolverine will be known as the Winter Soldier. He will also be in the service of the leaders of the Eurasian Republic: Magik, Colossus and Omega Red. This is reflected in his costume, which utilizes a red star motif instead of his usual yellow or brown coloration.
What is the Ultimate Wolverine #1 release date?
Ultimate Wolverine #1 will be released on January 15, 2025. However, the character will make his first official appearance in Ultimate Universe: One Year In #1. That special will be released on December 11, 2024.
Ultimate Wolverine #1 will be written by Chris Condon, best known for his work on Venom War and That Texas Blood. The art will be provided by Moon Knight artist Alessandro Cappuccio. Cappuccio will also draw the main cover for the issue, with variants to be produced by Gleb Melnikov and Steve Skroce.
Ultimate Wolverine #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on January 15, 2025.
