Gloop & Gleep Return as Herculoids Headline First Comic Series Ever

Despite only having 18 episodes in its original 1968 run, The Herculoids was one of the most popular of Hanna-Barbera‘s action cartoons. The series saw a brief revival in 1981 as part of the Space Stars anthology show. Despite this, the exotic space monsters have never had their own comic before.

Dynamite Entertainment is addressing this oversight, producing a Herculoids comic as part of their ongoing partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery. The series will be written by prolific writer Tom Sniegoski, best known for his work with Star Trek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Vampirella. The art will be provided by Batman Beyond and Future Quest artist Craig Rousseau. The two previously partnered together on the Young Hellboy series.

“I can honestly say that getting the chance to write The Herculoids series for Dynamite is one of the highlights of my comics career,” stated Sniegoski. “Having the opportunity to get into the minds of these characters has been a real challenge, but also incredibly fun. Who wouldn’t want to write a giant rock ape?”

Rousseau was equally enthusiastic, adding “The Herculoids is one of those dream gigs that comes along so rarely. I couldn’t jump fast enough to say ‘Yes!’ to drawing Zandor, Tara, Dorno, Igoo, Tundro, Zok, Gleep and Gloop! I grew up with the cartoon and can’t wait to tell their continuing stores [sic] with one of my favorite creative partners, Tom Sniegoski.”
