Spider-Man 4 Rumor Suggests Robert Downey Jr. Will Appear as Doctor Doom

Robert Downey Jr. rumored to appear as Doctor Doom in Spider-Man 4

The recent rumor, shared by scooper MyTimeToShineHello on X, suggests that Robert Downey Jr. may return to the MCU as Doctor Doom in Spider-Man 4. This would mark a new role for him after portraying Tony Stark/Iron Man in the franchise. Doctor Doom is expected to play a key role in the film, potentially setting up future conflicts within the MCU.

Spider-Man 4 is also rumored to be titled Spider-Man: King in Black, with Knull, the God of the Symbiotes, possibly serving as the main antagonist. Knull is a significant figure in Marvel Comics, known for creating the symbiotes and wielding the Black Necrosword. The film is expected to feature a multiversal storyline and may involve Venom. It could also link to the introduction of Downey’s Doctor Doom in these larger multiversal narratives.

Industry scooper DanielRPK previously reported that Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will come from the same universe as the Fantastic Four, linking him to the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps. Destin Daniel Cretton will direct the film, which begins production in 2025 and is aiming for a July 2026 release.

As of now, there is no official confirmation from Marvel or Sony about this, so fans must wait for further details on Spider-Man 4 and its impact on the MCU’s multiverse.

Tom Holland will be reprising his role of Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the upcoming movie, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon also expected to return as MJ and Ned, respectively.
