As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, and new characters are introduced in the franchise, Ghost Rider fans eagerly wait for the MCU debut of their favorite superhero/antihero. Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, recently stated that he wanted a different Ghost Rider in the MCU and not Johnny Blaze, whom the movie fans likely know more as Nicolas Cage portrayed him in Ghost Rider (2007) and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011).
Marvel’s Brad Winderbaum says he wants Danny Ketch’s Ghost Rider in MCU
In a recent interview, Winderbaum revealed he wanted Danny Ketch’s version of Ghost Rider in the MCU. Although Ketch has never appeared on the big screen, he reportedly has made appearances in episodes of X-Men: The Animated Series (1992-1997), Fantastic Four (1994-1996), and The Incredible Hulk (1996-1997).
When asked by Collider what series he would green-light if he could do it just by snapping his fingers, Winterbaum responded, “I would wanna do the Danny Ketch era of Ghost Rider. I think there are a lot of people who would be here for some Ghost Rider.”
Played by Gabriel Luna, Robbie Reyes was yet another version of Ghost Rider that appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4. A version of Johnny Blaze, portrayed by stand-in stunt actor Tom McComas, also reportedly appeared in the series. Although the show didn’t explicitly mention that McComas’ character was Blaze, Clark Gregg, who played Phil Coulson in the show, confirmed it in a post on X (formerly Twitter). However, the ABC series no longer seems to be regarded as a part of the mainstream MCU, so the prospect of the franchise introducing a completely different Ghost Rider from the ones that came before is quite possible.
In Marvel Comics, Daniel “Danny” Ketch is from Brooklyn, New York, and made his first appearance as Ghost Rider in 1990. The character was created by comic-book writer Howard Mackie and artist Javier Saltares.
