Peacemaker Season 2

Peacemaker Season 1 Isn’t Canon to the DCU, Season 2 Gets Production Window

The first season of Peacemaker won’t be canon to James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU.

On Threads, Gunn confirmed that the first season of Peacemaker, which premiered in January 2022, won’t be canon to the new DCU that officially begins later this year with an animated Creature Commandos series.

The second season, however, will be canon to the new continuity going forward.

“Many strands will remain consistent, yes, insofar as Peacemaker’s story goes,” Gunn clarified.

Gunn has previously said that, while nothing is officially canon until Creature Commandos, the new DCU will borrow story elements and characters that were featured in the DCEU. Viola Davis, for example, will continue to play Amanda Waller, while Xolo Maridueña will still portray Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle.

Gunn has also previously said that Peacemaker Season 2 will address the new DCU continuity in a way that “won’t be confusing.”

Peacemaker Season 2 gets a production window

Per Deadline, Emilia Harcourt star Jennifer Holland confirmed in an Instagram post that Peacemaker Season 2 will start filming this summer. “Yessss we start filming this summer! It’s gonna be so gooooood,” Holland said.

Gunn wrote about Peacemaker Season 2’s production window on Threads, saying, “John Cena shared this on Howard Stern last week. To answer your follow-up questions: yes, we’ll be shooting Superman & Peacemaker simultaneously; yes, I’ve written all the episodes; but, no, in the interest of getting the show out there I won’t be able to direct them all (only some).”

He also addressed when the Amanda Waller-focused series will go into production, saying, “Waller’s still happening & Jeremy [Carver] & Christal [Henry] are hard at work writing great stuff, but the schedule was impacted by the strikes so it’ll come after Peacemaker.”

Peacemaker Season 2 does not yet have a release date. The first season of Peacemaker, meanwhile, is currently streaming on Max.
