Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics have shared a first look inside the upcoming sixth issue of Daniel Warren Johnson’s Transformers.
Written and illustrated by Johnson and colored by Mike Spicer, Transformers #6 arrives in comic shops this March. The issue concludes the first arc of Johnson’s Transformers run. It features a main cover by Johnson and Spicer, as well as variant covers by André Lima Araújo, Orlando Arocena, Eric Canete, and Joe Quinones. At this time, Skybound has also shared three unlettered preview pages.

An official synopsis for Transformers #6 reads as follows: “In the arc-ending finale, ONE WILL STAND. ONE WILL FALL. The Autobots vs. The Decepticons. This is the first arc finale, and someone isn’t going to survive.”
Skybound’s Transformers begins a new story arc in April
Johnson’s Transformers launched in October 2023 as part of Image and Skybound’s Energon Universe. After the first story arc wraps up in next month’s issue #6, a new one will begin in April’s issue #7. On that note, Transformers #7 will see Jorge Corona take over as the series’ main artist. Johnson will remain onboard as its writer.

“It started with a ‘Do you want to work on a book with Daniel Warren Johnson?’ and just in case that wasn’t a deafening ‘YES,’ they added: ‘It’s for the TRANSFORMERS book’ … Growing up with TRANSFORMERS and its many iterations expanded in many ways what a cartoon could do for me. Even though it had the classic good vs. evil premise, it also added malleability to what the characters could do in that world,” Corona added.
“Betrayals, regrets, self-doubts, were all emotions that drove these characters and it added a complexity that I wasn’t familiar with in other shows,” the artist continued. “Fast forward to 30 years later and here I am seeing Daniel’s take on the franchise, rooted in his love for the original Generation One version, and it’s like reliving those childhood memories multiplied by a thousand. I am very honored and humbled to be a part of this project and cannot wait to share all of the craziness that’s coming up in the book.”
Transformers #6 goes on sale Wednesday, March 13 from Image Comics. Issue #7 follows suit on April 10.
