One mystery in the Dawn of DC Green Lantern series involves why the titular team is now forbidden from traveling to Earth. Indeed, the whole of Sector 2814 (which contains Earth) is now off-limits to the Corps. The preview of Green Lantern #7 offers a reason for this quarantine.
Written by Jeremy Adams with art by Amancay Nahuelpan, the issue opens with a flashback detailing the Corps’ management changes. Now operating under the aegis of the United Planets, the Green Lantern Corps is stretched thin following recent events. This leads to all of the Corps members from Earth being reassigned to other sectors. The reason for this is that the United Planets determined Earth is already well-protected and needs no Lanterns.

Are Earth’s Metahumans Enough Protection?
There is logic to the United Planets’ decision Even with their Power Rings restored, the Green Lantern Corps is a long way from rebuilding to their full strength of 7200 soldiers. There is also the problem of training those officers in a timely manner.
The other issue raised by the United Planets leadership is that Earth is better protected than most of their member worlds. This is partly due to its large population of metahumans; a resource that few other worlds have. It is also due to the presence of Superman, whom it is said could do just as much as multiple Lanterns to protect Sector 2814.
Given that, it makes sense why the United Planets would reassign the Green Lanterns of Earth to other worlds. However, it still seems odd that they would forbid the Lanterns from visiting their homeworld. It also makes little sense that they quarantined all of Sector 2814, rather than just Earth. This suggests a sinister agenda afoot, from someone who wants Earth’s heroes kept far from home.
