Mezco’s Gotham by Gaslight Batman Figure Takes Flight

What if the Victorian era had its own Batman? And somehow he come face-to-face with Jack the Ripper, who traveled to America? That’s the premise of Gotham by Gaslight, and all Mezco needed as an excuse to do the steampunk style they love. The One:12 Collective figure of this very old-school Batman even comes with a fold-out glider. That’s getting Bruce Wayne back to his roots, in a way. Bob Kane  originally cited Leonardo da Vinci’s flying machine as inspiration.

But that’s not all. As usual with this line, the figure comes fully accessorized. Per Mezco, “The One:12 Collective Batman is outfitted from cowl to boot in a Victorian era-inspired outfit. His cloak cape features an integrated posing wire and his utility belt can store up to three throwing knives. Three head portraits are included, featuring an unmasked, 19th century Bruce Wayne portrait. Batman takes to the gas lamp-lit skyline of Gotham using his Glider, which features hinged wings that can be spread or collapsed.”

The extra articulated glider ups the price somewhat, to $115, with a projected delivery next spring. But expect sellouts anyway. Mezco gets the details right, and this is a Batman variant who never really got justice in a toy line. Though there have been previous attempts.
