Noah Hawley’s Star Trek movie may have stalled, but his Alien plans are moving full steam ahead. During Disney’s Investor Day event, FX chief John Landgraf made an appearance to announce that Hawley’s Alien TV series is officially on its way.
The new series will continue FX’s longtime partnership with Hawley, who previously created Fargo and Legion for the network. Additionally, Landgraf revealed that Hawley’s show will be the first Alien story that takes place on Earth. He also shared that the series aims to combine the horror elements of Ridley Scott’s original 1979 film with the action of Jame Cameron’s 1986 follow-up, Aliens.

Deadline is also reporting that FX is currently “in advance talks” with Scott himself to join the project as an executive producer. Scott returned to the Alien series in 2012 with Prometheus and later returned to direct its sequel, Alien: Covenant, in 2017. Even before Disney absorbed 20th Century Fox’s IP, Scott has been teasing that an Alien TV series could arrive at some point. Hawley was linked to the show earlier this year. But in an interview with Deadline published last month, he claimed that he “wasn’t committed” just yet. Thankfully, he and the network were able to reach an agreement.
FX still hasn’t set a premiere date for Hawley’s Alien series.
