Good news has come for Ready Player One fans recently. Not only is Ernest Cline releasing a sequel that will hit the stores in November, but the book is also getting an audio version. And, according to a report by Deadline, it will be up to Star Trek: Next Generation and The Big Bang Theory actor Wil Wheaton to narrate it. Its predecessor was quite successful, given that the audiobook for Ready Player One was a bestseller on the New York Times audio fiction list.
Wheaton is not new to this kind of job, since he narrated both that first Ready Player One audiobook and Armada, also by Cline. Additionally, he did several books by John Green and Randall Munroe.
Ready Player One is the story of Wade Watts, who lives in a dystopian future and spends all his spare time researching pop-culture from the ’80s to aid in an online treasure hunt.

In 2018, Warner Bros. adapted Cline’s book into a Steven Spielberg blockbuster. Fans are still hoping that the recent news implies that there might be a possible sequel to the movie too. While Spielberg won’t be handling the direction of that movie, co-star Olivia Cooke revealed that she and most of the cast have already signed to reprise their roles in a sequel.
Ready Player Two will hit stores both with the hardcover and ebook editions on Nov. 24.
