Sony and director Andy Serkis have welcomed yet another new addition to the cast of Venom 2. According to Deadline, Stephen Graham has joined the sequel to Sony’s surprise hit. However, the studio is keeping his character’s identity a secret for now.
Graham is perhaps most widely recognized for playing legendary gangster Al Capone on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. This year, he has already appeared on the big screen in Rocketman and The Irishman. He will soon be seen as Jacob Marley on FX’s upcoming A Christmas Carol miniseries. Graham’s other film credits include Gangs of New York, two Pirates of the Caribbean entries, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. He has also landed BAFTA nominations for his small-screen roles on Save Me, This is England ‘90, and Accused.

Venom 2’s cast also reunites Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Woody Harrelson. They will reprise their roles from the original Venom as Eddie Brock, Anne Weying, and Cletus Kasady/Carnage, respectively. The other new addition to the film is Naomie Harris. Back in October, it was announced that Harris will play the mutant Shriek in the sequel. Serkis is directing the movie from a script written by Kelly Marcel, who previously co-wrote the first film. The film reportedly began production in England last month.
Sony will release Venom 2 on October 2, 2020.
