It Director Andy Muschietti Confirms The Flash is His Next Film

For a movie about the fastest man alive, The Flash has been pretty stop and go. Seth Grahame-Smith, Rick Famuyiwa, and John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein were all slated to direct The Flash at one point. However, they all left over “creative differences.” Earlier this summer, word broke that It director Andy Muschietti was in talks to helm The Flash. During an interview with Fandango to promote It: Chapter Two, Muschietti confirmed that The Flash is his next movie. He also spoke about what attracted him to the project.

“What captivated me about The Flash is the human drama in it,” said Muschietti. “The human feelings and emotions that play in the drama [of it]. It’s going to be fun, too. I can’t promise that there will be any horror [elements in it], really, but it’s a beautiful human story.”

Ezra Miller will reportedly reprise his role as the Flash/Barry Allen. Earlier this year, Miller clashed with Daley and Goldstein over the direction of The Flash. Miller even went so far as to recruit comic writer Grant Morrison to collaborate on a new draft with him. While the studio passed on Miller and Morrison’s draft, the decision was made to keep Miller in the role.

The Flash doesn’t currently have a release date, so it’s unclear where it will fall on Warner Bros.’ schedule.
