Rocket and Groot headline Marvel’s stylish 12-part animated webseries
Marvel and Disney XD today revealed the first chapter of a new 12 episode series of Rocket and Groot animated shorts. Check it out the first episode, “Dream Machine,” in the player below.

Over 12 episodes, the Rocket and Groot shorts will follow the Marvel heroes as they try to figure out how to get enough credits to buy a new ship after their old one breaks down. A compilation of all the shorts will then premiere on Disney XD at 7:00am ET/PT on April 10. Featuring animation by Academy Award-nominated Passion Pictures, the shorts are directed by Arnaud Delord, written by Chris “Doc” Wyatt and Kevin Burke, executive produced by Cara Speller, Alan Fine, Dan Buckley, Joe Quesada, and Cort Lane, and co-executive produced by Stephen Wacker and Stan Lee.
The Rocket and Groot cast features Trevor Devall (Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Johnny Test) and Kevin Michael Richardson (Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, The Cleveland Show) in the respective title roles.
The MCU versions of Rocket and Groot, meanwhile, are set to return to the big screen when James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrives May 5. The sequel’s cast includes the returning Chris Pratt (Jurassic World, Parks and Recreation) as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Star Trek) as Gamora, Dave Bautista (SPECTRE) as Drax, Vin Diesel (xXx, Furious 7) as the voice of Groot, Bradley Cooper (Joy, American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket, Michael Rooker (Slither, Jumper) as Yondu, Karen Gillan (Doctor Who, The Big Short) as Nebula, and Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), who plays Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, Furious 7) as Ego, the Living Planet.
