Rob Liefeld is Pumped for the Deadpool Movie!
September 22, 2009
When it comes to outspoken comic creators, you can't really top Rob Liefeld--okay, maybe Mark Millar--the young artist who came to fame in the early '90s on hot Marvel books like "The New Mutants," in which he created popular characters like Cable, Deadpool, Domino and others before departing Marvel to form Image Comics.
Since his creation Deadpool was introduced in X-Men Origins: Wolverine earlier this year, Liefeld has been a great cheerleader for the movie, having returned to Marvel Comics in recent years to revive some of his characters there.
According to Liefeld on Twitter, he met with Lauren Schuler Donner and her team earlier today to discuss the direction for the planned Deadpool spin-off movie, and he seemed very excited about their plans for the character he created. Some of the stuff he tweeted wasn't very newsworthy like the fact that Ryan Reynolds would continue to play the character, but he did seem hopeful that they were going to retain a lot more of the character's persona that made him so popular among the fans. (Check out the second tweet below.)
Liefeld's tweets follow:
"Great Deadpool movie meeting! Lauren Schuler Donner and her team are headed in the right direction!"
"Deadpool movie checklist- DP in costume-check! Breaking 4th wall-check! Loads of killing-double check!"
"Deadpool movie- YES! Ryan Reynolds is on board!!!"
And then the most interesting one:
"Also excited to discuss possibilities of Cable in future X-films!!!"
One would expect that Donner and 20th Century Fox would eventually get around to introducing Cable--the aged son of Jean Grey and Scott Summers in an alternate timeline--in a future "X-Men" installment, but it's even more promising to learn that Liefeld is involved in the development, something that could help to make it happen even sooner.
If you're a fan of Deadpool or Cable, let us know what you think of Liefeld's thoughts on the subject of their future movie appearances.

Wow.
Liefeld sucks, his characters are lame copies of pre existing characters - Deadpool=deathstroke...right down to basic design- and, wolverine origins was unwatchable...especially the end fight scene.
PASS.

Liefeld was new and interesting when he first came on to the scene and created some of these characters but the guy is just a hack now. (Maybe I'm a little jealous cause I wanted to be doing what he was doing but...) He just a hack... any character that he had a hand in creating has evolved beyond him. His involvement give me little to no hope for a decent film.

I love the Wolverine character, but Origin , to me, was a big disappointment, so many bad changes, including the annhilation of "maverick" with agent zero.
At least Deadpool was really cool, maybe one of the few characters treated with real respect

PG-13... TRIPLE CHECK!

why don't they just make the deadpool from wolverine some kind of clone/strange brew the perfect weapon Stryker was trying to create. The real Deadpool escapes from the lab and just has the powers he has in the comics.

Two requirements 1) Full costume 2) R rating.

I just hope there are scenes of him eating chimichangas and arguing with himself/Rob in his head.

Liefield is an idiot. Him and all those other @$$holes who left and formed Image almost brought down the whole comic business and now he wants to ruin the comic movies too? That guy is a douche.

"so what age does your powers start to work anyway? "
Dunno but I remember when I was 22 I woke up after a night of drinking, still drunk and high and half asleep and actually tried to move the clock off the wall thinking I could succeed. Needless to say after about 3 minutes of trying unsuccessfully, I finally came to my senses and realized I still drunk and went back to sleep. :) True story.
