Singer Interested in Returning to X-Men

Many X-Men fans were disappointed when director Bryan Singer decided to venture off to Superman Returns instead of directing X-Men: The Last Stand, the third movie in the trilogy he kicked off with X-Men and X2 in 2000 and 2003, respectively.

In a recent interview for the July issue of Total Film (reprinted in the Coventry Telegraph's The Geek Files), Singer mused about returning to the franchise:

"I'm eternally intertwined with X-Men now," he told them. "What takes an audience four hours to watch - the first two movies - took six years of my life. So, to not be part of it....It's a shame."

They also asked Singer whether he wished he had directed the third "X-Men" movie, to which he replied, "It's weird for me to watch it, because I'm so close to the universe. And also Brett is a good friend of mine. But, of course, I would love to return to that universe."

Lastly, they tried to get his thoughts on possibly directing the in-development X-Men Origins: Magneto that had been announced years ago with David (Blade: Trinity) Goyer attached to direct. Singer gave a tentative "possibly" response, because he expects it to cover some of the same WWII Nazi Germany territory he's covered before:

" The only thing that concerns me about Magneto is that if the prequel were to follow the track I used in X-Men, which is Magneto's history in the concentration camp, then I've lived in that world. Apt Pupil, X-Men and now Valkyrie...I've lived in that Nazi universe for quite a while. I just might need to take a little break before I do something like that."

He was even less committal about making another Superman movie:

"I don't know, I don't know. There are still issues...I just...I just don't know. I don't necessarily...I don't know. It's one of those things where...It's so weird talking about stuff unless I'm about to ramp up and shoot it."

Mickey free iz bak!!! Is this a joke because, I don't think Bryan Singer is going to admit that he can't direct Superman movies. THe last time I checked his film won 10 Golden Globe Awards and he won about 1, few to several Saturn awards for his directorial masterpiece. Bryan Singer is a genious if he read up on the Superman comics and hired, Geoff Johns to write the Superman stories into the live action movies Superman will be back where he was when Richard Donner directed the 1978 and 1980 blockbusters. Secondly, Brandon Routh is not skinny he makes you look like a skinny toothpick. He weighs between 215 to 225 pounds he woks out in the gym and is a professional swimmer so I would think twice about calling someone skinny. You're just made because, he is where he is and you are here hating on someone you don't even know.

X-Men is fun, but good golly, SUPERMAN RETURNS was awesome. I'm a far more engaged DC fan, so I vote for Superman Unleashed!!!

brian singer was in x-men,x-men 2 and superman return and ian happy that is returing to the x-men movies fanchise and i hope he will future x-men sni-off movies.

please.....he ruined X-men. He ran over to his love Superman so let him stay there. he completely changed the characters...they didnt get storm right at first, rogue. Just bland action and no team battles. X2 was good. Everything I liked about X3 I wish were apart of the first two movies he did

poor bryan singer fans. the third x men film was by far the most successful and sr was a dud. dark knight made a similar amount but it also cost much less. and killed on dvd. i don't like when a character is messed with, so where is all the love for singer coming from. the first two movies were actionless and the story was barely explored. the first x men only did slightly better than fantastic four. and that franchise is about dead.(the comic not the movie) the first two x men stand on par with daredevil and the hulk. the problem is considering their popularity they shoulda been with spiderman. these movies were never great but no one caught it till now because x men was the first to return to the screen.

AT THE END OF X2, MOST FANS WERE REALLY EXCITED WHEN THE PHOENIX WAS COMING OUT OF THE WATER. COME X3 AND WE WERE TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED AND ON THE DVD DELETED SCENES COMMENTAIRES THE DIRECTOR SAID THAT A FIRE BIRD WOULD NOT LOOK AS REAL AS IT SHOULD BE ANDA WAS A KINDA CARTOONISH IDEA. BRYAN GAVE US A GLIMPSE BUT X3 KILLED THE FRANCHISE WITH THAT ZOMBIE LIKE, GRIM REPAER JEAN GREY. NOT THAT THE MOVIE WASNT INTERESTING BUT THEY SHOULD TREAT IT LIKE AN ELSEWORLDS AND DO A NEW X3 TO CONTINUE BRYANS VISION.

any one here who sopurts singer aprently dont read any xmen comic books the movie mayde no sences at all everything seemed out of place when i saw watchmen and how they stuck to the comics and the coustums WOW THE COUSTUMES but brain singer is a butcherer and distroyer of worlds i agree 100% with darko screw singer he should go back to what ever whole he crawled out from and seal it for eternity

I don't know but I understand what they are saying. Brain Singer is a horrible director he should stop making movies altogther. X-men was a horrible movie beacuse there was so much to tell that couldn't be done with in 3 hours. It could of gone longer. It should of been rated R. The frist X-men the way they where intrduced it was like going for rehab hi my name is strom I can control the weather so on so forth. I agree with wolverine The way watchmen did the costumes kept ture to the comic books. It was just beautifuly done. To bad X-men couldnt come up with it frist.
