Ryan Reynolds on the Deadpool Spin-Off
May 31, 2009
HitFix talked to Ryan Reynolds this weekend and asked about the upcoming "Wolverine" spin-off, Deadpool. He says he's "intimately involved" with the project:
We're just trying to break a story right now and figure out who the villain is going to be and all that stuff. But, it's going to be just like the comic books. I'm gonna have a messed up face and you may see some flashbacks of Wade earlier in his life, but primarily what you see is what you get in the comics and that's the goal. And there is no better place to draw material from then the comics which are incredible.
20th Century Fox has not set a release date for the film yet.

deadpool sucks, but I do like Ryan Reynolds and want to support the comic films, so I will go see it regardless.
Let's hope it is better than the comics.

After deep consideration, Mr Reynolds, the best director for a "deadpool" movie should be TAYLOR AND NEVELDINE from the crank movies.
they do great with rididulous action dope actions scenes and would do wonders when wade breaks the 4th wall constantly... eh. i'm I right?
plus they are a big fan of bear breasts, much like deadpool

Good! Now no one has to post the comment "I hope they stay true to the source material." If they're smart they'll let Deadpool stand on his own, keep the interaction with other characters limited and give everyone who hasn't read a comic book a chance to see why this character is so popular.

@ who cares
hmmm...must not read comics or you'd know Deadpool is not just a badass/crazy, but well written (if in the right hands. Can't wait if Reynolds is a big fan like he says and IF they actually take from the comics to create the script.

"bear breasts"? Which bears do they prefer, Kodiak, Polar, Black, Brown, or Grizzly?
One more thing, go for an R rating... 'bear breasts' indeed!!!

Let's go for an R this time "R"eynolds! I hope it'll be good, though. That Wolverine crap took all the comic book geek out of me.

He's the right guy for the part and he also respects it. Sounds good to me. As long as no 'suits' have any bright ideas to change everything this should turn out great.

How about the 'Wendigo' for a villan?
Or Sasquath, some big powerful villan with supernatural skills.

I have always liked Deadpool...but I think they should have him face someone just as dangerous as he is.....i think Cyber, Omega Red or even Agent X would be great Nemeses

To Monkfus:
Cyblade was created by Marc Silvestri for his team Cyberforce, not Liefeld. Though I do agree Liefeld is somewhat of a hack...

Hulk VS Wolverine was waaaaaaay better than X-Men Orgins. Even though DP didn't break the 4th wall in it, I hope they handle it like they did in that movie.

20th Century Fox need to stop doing marvel movies. They @ss rape x-men 1-3 & wolverine. Stay true to the comics or give them their original comic costume. Deadpool is gonna be crap$h*t like wolverine. WB should do both marvel and dc movies. F**k 20th Century Fox, god damn testicles sucker!!!

Marvel's DEADPOOL (Wade Wilson) is
DC's DEATHSTROKE (Slade Wilson) with a personality.
And as for a villain?... he is the villain, just cut open his mouth (the dumbest part of the Wolvie flick) and let him cut loose!
Lose Cyclops's optic blasts, give him his costume, and let the fun ensue...
oh! and u gotta have CABLE in it, dont 'cha?...

I have faith that Reynolds will do us proud.

Ahhh... I was hoping Ryan would be The Flash (Wally West, not Barry Allen), that's definitely him. But Deadpool is okay. And what did he mean "who the villain is going to be?" I thought Deadpool IS a villain.

i like ryan reynolds i like him as deadpool but i am sad he is dead pool cause he will never play Wally west now and lets be honest he would be the best Wally West

I do not believe a word he is saying. He is just trying to lure the fans back in knowing they/we were pissed off the way they did Deadpool in the Wolverine movie.
Posted by: dirtymonkey on June 1, 2009 at 07:47:46
this needs to be rated r if not it will suck deadpool is a perv, crazy and will kill
Posted by: Hulkcrawler on June 1, 2009 at 07:54:55

What I am wondering about is the last time we saw Deadpool in a movie his head was saying goodbye to his body I wonder how they are going to explain that??? Or is this going to be an Origin story??? When you stray from the source material and then create a spinoff bad things will happen i.e. Electra Superman Returns

Fox= Comic Books= Disaster... Look at all the films, X-men trilogy, Daredevil, Ghost Rider. Awful.

i totally agree with sumperspiktive. Neveline and Taylor would be the perfect directors for this movie. Great Shout

i guess you can survive having your head cut off and come back for a spinoff. that's cool. watch them say wade has like extreme healing ability...or teleported him and his head back together....or...maybe it wasn't wade. maybe it was someone else that got killed. but i gotta tell you...it's not making much sense at this point.
