this movie will suck humungous balls..this is not the transformers we grew up with..pleeeeasssseee do a remake of the film and this time do it right!!!
Posted by: El Bart-O on November 8, 2008 at 04:20:26
lionheart, what exactly did you have in mind?
I mean, the movie is pretty much based on a line of toy cars that transform into alien robots. What else can anyone make of that?
Posted by: eagles0589 on November 8, 2008 at 04:23:21
How can people say this movie is going to suck? Yes its not like the original cartoon. I grew up with the tv show and had all the toys, and if Bay's movies were just like the show, it would blow. What's wrong with changing paint schemes and vehicle models, I liked Bumblebee as a camaro more the a VW. I get to see gaint robots destory each other and the surrounding area so I'm verry pleased.
Posted by: The R-dale Cowboy on November 8, 2008 at 05:36:56
Lionheart is right. Bay took Transformers and turned it into thoughtless action. Yes the old cartoon was nothing more but a toy advertisement for children but isn't it strange that the cartoon and comics had more characterization and emotional story telling than a big budget Hollywood film produced by Spielberg?
I hate the fact this movie gets a sequel. I know some of you enjoyed Bay's take but y'all should try to understand how upsetting it is to true fans to see something you loved completely turned up-side-down. I always wanted a live action Transformers movie for as long as I can remember but I never wanted it to be a thoughtless shoot 'em up with no thought or feeling to it.
And why the Hell would Bay not cast Frank Welker, the greatest voice actor ever to stand behind a microphone, to voice Megatron. Complete lack of class and a sign of disrespect to someone infinitly more talented than Bay will ever be.

This movie is going to be great. I love the Transformers. Go The Goatman.
Posted by: Jeramy PBFstudios on November 8, 2008 at 05:39:47
......by the way this 4 years are going to suck and remakes are not always a good idea. You should be happy with what you can get. At least they are making movies we want to see at all. Bring on Devistator.
Posted by: MeGrimlockMeKing!!! on November 8, 2008 at 09:13:58
I do agree with cowboy on the Frank Welker part. He should have done the voice of Megatron. He did it in the video game. I was waiting for Megatron to Say Mr Prime. But anyways I know there is no way to conceive a story line about them i would like to see at least one or two dinobots in the movie. You have to remember these movies are based on a cartoon, toy line, & Comic book. We should be happy the movie is even being made in the manner that the whole family can enjoy it. Which is something you can hardly do anymore.

I love it when people say "y'all should try to understand how upsetting it is to true fans to see something you loved completely turned up-side-down"....you're an idiot! You also mentioned the awesome story-telling from the cartoon....again, you're an idiot. The cartoon lasted for three whole seasons (plus a 3 episode 4th season) and had numerous opportunity to tell great stories (The Key to Vector Sigma, . The movie had about two hours to set people up with who all these characters are and give us some semblance of action to tide us over. If you're going to sit there and say you're a die-hard fan and then complain about character building then you weren't a die-hard fan to begin with! You should know who they are and what they are about! So do us all a favor, stop reading TF:ROTF news and complaining about how much it will suck BC YOU OBVIOUSLY ARE NOT A FAN OF TRANSFORMERS AND DON'T DESERVE TO WATCH THIS MOVIE ANYWAY!
Furthermore, you want to talk about senseless action and remaking the old movie....Why don't you actually watch the old movie and count how many times "senseless action" takes place. Then you'll say "but they had to kill off ironhide and ratchet and starscream and thundercracker etc etc because they had to sell toys" and I would reply with "exactly, dumba$$"
All of you complaining about this movie should give it a rest. It gets annoying to people that have open-minds and are not expecting the next coming of christ with this movie. It may suck, it may be great. You never know until you really hear anything concrete about it and ACTUALLY WATCH THE MOVIE!

They need to add more scenes with Star Scream kickin a$$ !!! since he is the far superior Decepticon . oh yeah WE GOT A BLACK PRESIDENT !!!! :o

Again people don't get the point let me give you an example about character build up. Iron man and batman begins..there is 1 character, now tell me how many characters are in Transformers? its hard to give character build up in a movie with more than 1 main character, cram it in 2-3 hour movie. and plus to the people who keeps saying give us a better story line, here is a challenge how you write a story about giant robots fighting in earth, and no one in the world would notice this? thats why they have to have more than 1-2 humans. and plus do you even know how many universe transformers has? animated, energon, armada the movie is just another one. with all robots having a different look. and michael bays family fun worked and it worked 700+million plus better than batman begins or iron man for a non sequel movie. He made a movie a movie about toy. and Wyngarde its not about being smart its about making everyone happy not only the fans, and it worked.

"Now why do you think that Transformers 84 has lasted longer than Bay's directing career?"
Last I checked, Bay is still directing movies (TF2, duhhh)...and he was only 19 when "TF 84" came out.
Seriously Wyngarde, that's a stupid comment made by a stupid retard.
Posted by: JokerX on November 8, 2008 at 13:09:33
Ok,
Everyone here is an idiot. I am a die-hard Transfan. I have all the books, toys, etc etc. I loved the movie. I realize that you can't really do the 80's cartoon in live action, it was Just a way to bring out the new toys. Yes Bay, has changed a few things but so what. without humans in the story there is no story. Read the current comics and books. The Humans play a very important roll. Now I do think humans killing the transformers is a little stupid, I weill forgive him. But all you weannabe fan boys please go away and spew your spew on the bat threads.
Posted by: optimus on November 8, 2008 at 13:35:52
i think you better watch the movie again. people who think the 1st 1 suck dey need 2 get slaped. stupid.Dont know nothing about action packed movies.

I love Transformers. I have all of G1 and Beast Wars on DVD, both are great TV's but they can't really be translated well to the big screen. Now I love G1 but it really doesn't hold up today. Yeah there are some really BadA$$ episodes, but those are few and far between. I still like them because I grew up watching the show, but just go back and re-watch it. Then tell me if you would really want that over Bay's Transformers. There are things that I don't like in Bay's movie, none of which had to do with the Robots. I don't get most people who post here. It's something you love, stop complaining and just be happy that Transformers is still around. If you have nothing good to say don't post it, because we don't want to read it.

Hopefully there will be TRANSFORMERS on the carrier! I don't think I can take another 90 minutes of lebouf and 15 of actual Transformers.
Will any of the Transformers "lubricate" any humans in this one? Cause, I gotta say, that was comedy gold. :/

The fight scenes in The Incredible Hulk was the best in “ANY” Superhero movie ever period. >Next to Transformers<
The Incredible Hulk was absolutely a great movie from the beginning to end. All the references to future tie INS for other Marvel characters was brilliant. There is no stopping or turning back Superhero movies will own the Movie industry probably for the next 10 to 15 years if not more.
An idea for The Avengers Movie, just too really smash box office records throw in Spiderman and the Fantastic 4 with a cameo in The Avengers. Word of mouth of that alone will bring in cash.
This should be done from now on, have cameos in every new Marvel or Dc movie to bring out other characters. Doesn’t have to be much or any lines to say just do it.
Stan Lee will have more of a major role in “The Incredible Hulk 2”. His character will be the Old Man Hulk from the TV Series since they already put the character into play in The Incredible Hulk loved it and was brilliant.
Just with the references of characters from the Comic books/TV show in the movie should tell you that they are moving forward with an Incredible Hulk 2. The Leader, Old Man Hulk and Doc Sampson were in The Incredible Hulk, with a tease of Captain America.
Even though I can’t see him or the shield in slow motion, someone freeze frame the Blue ray scene and post it on youtube to end all speculations. Since Blonsky showed how they will develop Captain America.
If you haven’t seen this movie yet you need to now, better yet go buy it now.
I’m not even an Avengers fan but the movie will be greatness because Captain America or Ironman will not be enough to stop The Incredible Hulk. Just ask Wolverine rofl.
BTW, Redo X-Men and bring on Apocalypse with Michael Clarke Duncan either playing the voice over or character. Do not make wolverine the main character either punk can’t even fly nor has super human strength.
Hulk Smash!!!

Wyngarde
You're an idiot. The only 84 Transformer still doing any buisness on the modern market is Optimus Prime, which Hasbro re-issues every six months. Even the Classics and Universe toy lines don't try to give us the original 84 toys, cause they sucked. They tried keeping that fire going with the Anniversary figures, and the toys ended up as bargain clear outs at Toys R Us.
Bay gave us a new vision. If the robots looked exactly as they did in the cartoon, you'd see straight through Optimus back side and he wouldn't be able to aim his rifle. He'd shoot at a 45 degree angle, a shot that would miss Megatron, because Megs would only be about 3 inches thick and barely able to stand. Ratchet would have had a windshield for a head and Starscream would have to manually attach his hands after he transformed. Yeah, I'm sure that would have gone over well. It would have been a ****ing masterpiece.
So cry a little more for me about how little screen time the bots got. How much screen time did friggin' Spike get in the cartoon? Every generation of the toon has humans in it, and they get more and more screen time why; because we're humans, you dolt. It gives us a connection to the story. Without human thought, feeling and perception in the story, it would just be giant robots beating the hell out of each other. If you want to see that, watch Japanese movies.
Cry about them looking like "Bionicles". What the hell do you think an alien robot should look like? You want it to have square edges and look like it was assembled from cardboard boxes? It's a techno-organic lifeform. It would have thousands of moving parts, actual photo-receptors for eyes and yes...would have mouths and lips. Every other creature in nature does, so why wouldn't creatures from a mechanical "nature"?
So please, go sit in your jammies and watch the 84 Transformers and marvel at the wonderful story elements like Prime's disappearing trailer and the fact that a Nazi handgun can magically become a building sized robot.
Dork.
I'm going to see this flick opening day, just like you are (and you know it), and it'll be the biggest opening of the summer. Suck it up buttercup.

I've been a fan since '84 because the whole premise was about robots with human personalities, values, and shortcomings that I could relate to. And these human robots could transform into all manner of vehicles and were armed with cool weapons. For me, being an Autobot would have been better than being a teenager in high school. And being a Decepticon in high school would have been even better at times.
Anyway, all three mediums--cartoon, comic, and live action movie--display those elements. All three mediums have their flaws (bad animation, poor story-telling and drawing, and too many weird humnas) and are based on toys. Toys! But they stay true to the core premise--two factions of transforming robots from the planet Cybertron at war with each other. Arguing about which is better is the craziest thing I've ever seen.
In the Bay movie, Prime and the Autobots and Megatron and the Decepticons are who they've been in past incarnations. Any fan--regardless of whether you think the cartoon and comics are better than the movie and vice versa--should see that they got that right. Who cares if Frank Welker is the voice of Megatron? What drags down the movie are too many humans and too many sex jokes.

I grew up with he original TF too but I enjoyed the the movie a lot. I like Megatrons voice, it is certainly more aggressive and menacing sounding. All you purists make me laugh. Things have to evolve, you cant stay in the 80's forever.

Anyone, on either side, who claims this "True Fan" mantra is a d i c k head. Please, spare us all the drama of using "true fan" to those who liked/disliked the live action movie.
With that out of the way, I agree with anyone who points out how insanely comical and absurd the original cartoon/comics were. I enjoyed them immensely, and I wouldn't change a thing, but stop pretending that they were something more than that: cool lookin' cartoons/toys that were fun to watch/play with. Character development? Go watch Shawshank Redemption you retards.

Why do you guys keep blaming Michael Bay for ruining your childhood. That's just the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. First of all Bay's first day on the job was he had to attend Transformers school at hasbro. (Yes they have it) Second, He didn't write the script. He may of helped afterwords on it but you got to keep in mind, HASBRO approved it. Meaning they thought also that it would be better. The first one was just to introduce the characters. Keep in mind that this is an adaption to the cartoons series. meaning changes due to let's say funding, He only gets a certain budget to make the movie. Plus the movie is in present day. not the 80's Perhaps a couple of the vehicles cost to much. Relax this next movie is going to kick ass!

Ok, after reading all this all i have to say is, grow up! lol I know thats an odd statement for fans of a tv cartoon show about toys but some of you tend to want to live in the past and not admire what Bay is trying to do and how he is trying to please the fans.
Yeah he's not gonna please everyone but with the first movie it was like any "first movie" it was a set up to introduce the characters to those who never seen the characters, set up a connection with them and make them something they could relate to, boo at and root for.
Look at the first X-men, good but not great, X2 was better. Fantastic 4 was the exception cuz I didnt like that but the second movie did better than the first. This new movie was limited on budget, but now that it has full studio support they can unleash on the designs, the bots, the story everything! So not only will this be a btter movie than the first, it may just rekindle that feeling you felt as a child when you saw your first transformers episode.
So suck up it whiners and have an open mind, get out of your room, put down your video game and look at life how it really is.
Love, peace and Chicken Grease! I'm out!
