Norrington, Dorff Teaming on Blade Spin-Off

The Sunday Mail reported in October of 2008 that Blade director Stephen Norrington and Stephen Dorff, who played villain Deacon Frost in the film, were working on a prequel trilogy.

"It will be a prequel to the 'Blade' movies, Deacon's story," Dorff said then, "It's a new trilogy the director has created. It will cool.

"We hope to shoot the first film next year. Frost is a character I have never been able to shake."

Norrington has confirmed the news to Comics2Film, saying the project is "not exactly how the article describes but close."

The director credits Dorff with coming up with the idea for the new project, which "has evolved into a very interesting story... The linkage to 'Blade' is still big in the equation."

The original Blade, which starred Wesley Snipes, earned $131.2 million at the worldwide box office and was followed by two sequels. Norrington hasn't directed a film since 2003's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Stephen Norrington? i thought Sean Connery murdered him

Dorff is abot 4 feet tall and bald now. How the hell is this going to work? Really, does anyone even care?

dammit, that sounds like direct to DVD suckiness. I can't stand Stephen Dorff.

Why can't they just wait until Wesley Snipes gets out of jail and then make another Blade movie?????

Posted by: JoJo on July 6, 2009 at 18:04:38

Is snipes back?

Posted by: GammaBob on July 6, 2009 at 18:05:00

Totally unnecessary. But may be alright never the less.

Why can't anyone just think of a new idea and quit rehashing old moderately successful franchises?

Posted by: schillah on July 6, 2009 at 18:08:41

Wesley Snipes is a must.

Reports of Norrington's murder at the hands of Connery have been greatly underexagerated.

The news is only from October 2008. The Felon DVD was released in the US on August 12, 2008 but the article makes mention of the UK release in October.

God...When will the hurting stop ( about brain-aches) Why does hollywood keep wanting to make BS movies for the sake of a few bucks? Everyday Batman & Robin goes from being the worst comic book movie to "stunning visual epic"...Lets just get Joel Schumacher to direct every single spinoff there is and Ube Woll to produce it...

What's with making movies about villains. Magneto, Venom and now this? I'm just not sure how that's supposed to work. I mean who will be the villains' villain in the story?

Posted by: Drunkalete on July 6, 2009 at 18:20:14

terrible idea. Simply terrbile.

Posted by: egon spengler on July 6, 2009 at 18:27:49

it will cool

2 things that I loved about this post.

1) "It will cool."
Will it cool? Will it really?

2) "Norrington hasn't directed a film since 2003's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen."
There is a reason for that. It's the same reason that you don't give a gun to a killer.
Only bad things will happen.

What a retarded idea...

I love Uwe Boll and Joel Schumacher is sooooo dreamy. This is going to be like Arnold Schwarzenegger saying, "Hey lets make a Batman prequel with me in it and not even worry about that Batman character, yeah, you know, really pump up de movie".

Why can't people with the power concentrate their efforts on worthwhile projects that people will really care about.

what happened to The Crow remake????!!?!?!?!

Posted by: Kiwisensei on July 6, 2009 at 18:41:10

Blade was cool because Wesley a very cool looking style of Martial Arts and the fighting really carried the movie, Balde 2 was much cooler because the fighting was even better AND it had a talented director. Blade 3 unfortunately was a bit suck because even though Wesley's fighting looks cool...he came across a bit tired....the director was a bit sh**t and the other two main characters were actors trying to look like they could fight...now I ask you...can Stephen Dorff fight? Or is he just going to look like he learned the moves that day!

Posted by: Kiwisensei on July 6, 2009 at 18:42:34

Christ I need a spell check!!

Posted by: Odinson on July 6, 2009 at 18:45:41

I hope this thing never gets made.

Also, "Frost is a character I have never been able to shake." REALLY?! Because when I think of Stephen Dorff, I dont think of Deacon Frost. I think of ****, but not Frost.

Posted by: Crusher_Creel on July 6, 2009 at 18:50:23

Well, at least the movie will cool.

Posted by: Crusher_Creel on July 6, 2009 at 18:52:02

That's why I'm looking forward to it, cause it's hotter than hell over here.
