Is Fox Rebooting Daredevil?
Source:Golden Apple Comics
May 23, 2009

These days, there are a lot of new sources for news and scoops and one of the oddest ones might be the local comic shop who have become the go-to place for actors hoping to get coveted roles in the latest superhero movie.

The blog for the Los Angeles-based store Golden Apple Comics spotted one such actor when "Battlestar Gallactica" star Katee Sackhoff went there to buy every single comic featuring Typhoid Mary she could get her hands on with "hopes to get a part for a marvel movie."

Comic fans will realize right away that Typhoid Mary is the longtime foe (and lover) of Marvel's Daredevil, a mutant with a multiple personality who develops various powers depending on which personality inhabits her at the time. She was created by Ann Nocenti and John Romita Jr., first appearing in their run with Daredevil #254.

That makes one wonder whether 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios are already looking into possibly relaunching Daredevil on the big screen, following the Mark Steven Johnson version starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, which came out in 2003. Natassia Malthe played Typhoid in the 2005 spin-off Elektra with Garner. Typhoid also appeared in the early "Deadpool" comics, so this might be for the Deadpool spin-off with Ryan Reynolds.

Check out Golden Apple's blog post here and decide for yourself whether a relaunch of Daredevil is happening much like The Incredible Hulk last year, and then let us know how you feel about it below.

I think Fox still has the rights to distribute but hopefully, it would be handled more like The INcredible Hulk... Marvel producing, picking director and cast and Fox just distributing

I think it would be cool, and would love to see another Daredevil movie. I think she may show up in another film, though. Like Deadpool as suggested a couple comments up

that actually might be kinda cool with Sackhoff.. still dig the idea of Frank Miller getting behind it as long as somebody puts whatever size leash needed to control him from making it like The Spirit. it's got potential. the most important thing here is the leash on Fox.

if a reality, i would have too much hope for this character to get the Fox-Screw in X-Form.

Since I love continuity, finding an actor who looks a bit like Ben would be nice, or give some reason why he looks different. Like an emotional breakdown because of Elektra's death.

Wait...does this mean the rights to that character have reverted back to Marvel??? No longer 20th Century FOX?

Well, I actually liked the 2003, Mark Steven Johnson Director's Cut version of the film...but I would still like to see a reboot!

Katee Sackhoff ROCKS! NBC knuckleheads actually passed on her 'Lost & Found' pilot (co-starring Col. Stryker's Brian Cox!!) WTF???

I didn't really like the story, I liiked Ben as Daredevil and I liked MCD as the Kingpin. But I would not be against a reboot.

Now if only they could get their hands on the X-Men license.

Yeah, I guess she could be in a future mutant movie like Deadpool but I don't think they've even started writing a script for that one... Typhoid Mary would make more sense for a Daredevil movie.

I really like the first Daredevil movie, sorry. Ben did a great job with it. It was cool because he was an actual fan of the character before he was ever thought of to play the part. Because of that, he brought his heart to the project and it showed. Obviously, the budget wasn't up there with Spider-Man, and the writing was less-than-desirable (I mean, c'mon... that fight scene in the playground was ridiculous - he's supposed to be a blind guy and hiding his identity... I laughed out loud at that in the theater!), but the costume was great, the acting was great, and the action was pretty cool (lame FX, but again, no budget). I'd love to see this movie revisited, with more money thrown at it. But don't blame Ben for the last one. It was a fairly good movie for the time period and for the budget. Let's get a better script, better director, and dye his hair blonde and we'll be peachy.

jason statham as daredevil, maybe they can use the born again story line.

Posted by: Goat on May 23, 2009 at 10:11:58

Don't let Zak Penn write the Avengers Movie! It will be horrible!

I hope they do Daredevil justice this time.

Posted by: John Romita Jr. on May 23, 2009 at 10:19:27

Why don't they just adapt the "Man Without Fear" series by Frank Millar and get some good actors.

P.S.
Suggestion, let's not use an African American actor who sounds mentally handicapped to play a character that is Caucasian, and a criminal mastermind.

no offense, but jason statham cannot act. he is great in his action movies where he kills everything in site. but thats about it. worst suggestion ever! lol. and i didnt mind the first one, but i always love to see new interpratations of my favorite superheros!

Scott Adkins makes a great daredevil!!

Posted by: Drifter on May 23, 2009 at 10:32:12

This is one character that deserves a new movie.

Posted by: Carl Grissom on May 23, 2009 at 10:35:04

What a great opportunity to forget that horrible flick with Ben Affleck. Ughhh...

Posted by: Rodrigo on May 23, 2009 at 10:35:58

About time...Batman Begins has had a tremendous impact on rebooting. What about Fantastic Four though?

Posted by: Darien on May 23, 2009 at 10:49:00

Does anyone know if they will bring Kingpin into any of these marvel movies?

Posted by: d serious on May 23, 2009 at 10:51:59

matt damon as daredevil

jason statham as daredevil, maybe they can use the born again story line.

And we could have Vin Diesel as Nuke......Maybe if we are lucky we could get Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to play Captain America. Hell they could even throw some J.Lo as Elektra in there too

If Marvel is in charge, I'll pay the ticket.

Posted by: Fort on May 23, 2009 at 11:04:02

If FOX are involved...oh boy...whew...hate them.

I would love to see a Daredevil reboot. Sam Worthington as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Katie Sackoff as Typhoid Mary, Rex Smith as Jack "The Devil" Murdock, Vin Diesel as Kingpin, Cote De Pablo as Electra, and Cilian Murphy as Bullseye.

I liked Daredevil as well. The cast was great as well as story. I was sad to hear that Ben Affleck released a statement after DD and Paycheck that he would stop doing action movies...And the only way he would do a DD sequel is if Kevin Smith would direct, which Smith said he wouldn't touch. That sucks.

Wasn't she in Spidey comics too? I thought she became a soap actress and became friends with MJ. They have yet to announce the villain for Spidey 4...
