Brett Ratner Off Conan

Empire magazine spoke to Conan and Red Sonja producer Joe Gatta, who said that Brett Ratner is not attached to direct the former anymore:

"We're currently in the process of hiring a director," he told us. "For the past six months we were discussing the movie with Brett Ratner, and for more timing issues than anything else we had to part ways with Brett. We all wanted him to do it, believe me; just the timing didn't work. But you never know what can happen."

Gatta added that they are hoping to start production on Conan on August 24 in Bulgaria, while Red Sonja would start sometime next year.

Brett Ratner needs to stay away from Conan and Red Sonja he will disrespect and degrade those characters like Catwoman and Elektra were in 2004. The Wachowski Brothers should direct Conan and Red Sonja they did the Matrix series, and Speed Racer far better than Brett Ratner's crappy XMEN: The Last Stand movie.

You, guys think Brett Ratner was only directing, Conan and Red Sonja check this out they had an article, last year in 2008 that Brett Ratner was hired to direct, God Of War the Sony Playstation video game franchise that stars the lead character Kratos the spartan warrior. Brett Ratner better not come within 100 feet of the video game epic blockbuster I will be sorely dissappointed and insulted if he directs that movie. I rather Ridley Scott or George Lucas do that over him. Heck, Bryan Singer would beat Brett Ratner anyday making video game films.

The Wachowskis suck. Ever since the Matrix, their movies have gone down hill fast. Speed Racer was a terrible epileptic seizure. Ratner's X3 was still not that bad.

I thought Robert Rodriguez was involved with Red Sonja as well as Conan. Did he unveil Rose McGowan as Sonja at last years comic con? they had t shirts and everything. I though he said he was co-producing both pics?

i liked the matrix, matrix reloaded, and speed racer, but matrix revolutions pissed me the ****e off, that was a really weak ending. i want to see the wachowski brothers do a superman trilogy. i find it hilarious though when the fans say spiderman 1 @ 2 xmen 1 @ 2 where great but once the third film comes out and sucks ba$$s, they say the whole francise sucks because of the third film. that to me is kinda of dumb, i read some comments saying bryan singer ruined the xmen francise........for ****e sake when was the last time you read a newspaper or just watched the fu$$ing T.V.

by the way xmen origins wolverine was really good, cant wait for a dead........wow i havent been crucifide by nerds yet...anyways i hope they do make the deadpool movie soon. and if you say they cant because he died, obviously you havent watch the end credits.

I think in these particular film's cases Brett would've done an interesting job... I mean he's about his action, and X-Men 3's action was pretty great to be honest... and we can't completely fault him for that film:
1) He didn't write it, and
2) He's not a known X-Men fan/reader.

He was also given the job of directing what, 6 weeks before shooting was supposed to start?

I'm not saying Ratner is great, but he COULD'VE done a good job.

I'd personally prefer Guillermo del Torro, his vision is phenomenol when it comes to fantasy-esque films. Too bad he's apparently busy.

Anyone know del Torro's progress on the Doctor Strange film?

Yeah youre right! i remember seeing the poster for the red sonja on this site! What happened to that?
