Arielle Kebbel Joins No Heroics
March 18, 2009
Arielle Kebbel (The Uninvited, The Grudge 2) has landed a lead on ABC's comedy "No Heroics," says The Hollywood Reporter. ABC Studios' "Heroics" revolves around four B-list superheroes living among us. Kebbel will play the sweetheart of the group.
The pilot, based on the British series of the same name, will also star Paul Campbell and Eliza Coupe.
The U.S. version is written by "Will & Grace" alum Jeff Greenstein and original show creator Drew Pearce.

Thank god it's Efron on Jonny Quest. I hope Efron becomes the new Shia. Does anyone else think they should do a version of Dark Knight where they digitally replace Heath Ledger's performance with Shia and/or Efron? Maybe they can get Efron and Shia for No Heroics.

Well at least the original show's creator is involved and hopefully writing some of the shows. But I'm really waiting to hear when the pilot will come out. We've probably still got at least a year or so to wait for this which is disappointing.

The UK version is excellent, which means the Americans will ruin it - their casting proves it. The UK version is rude, crude and very funny. The US version will be pretty, watered down and dull. There's a proven history of English sitcoms being dumbed down for American audiences by replacing real people with beautiful people and losing the point behind the show. The Office is the only one I can think of where they actually got it right, maybe that's because HBO had something to do with it.
This isn't meant to be an attack on the American people, just the ones who make your TV - you deserve so much better.

slippy sloppy i live in the US and you make an excellent point. american sitcoms and cartoons have no balls.

Why not make an actual superhero show? Like "Daredevil" or "Green Arrow?" Or in Ms. Kebbel's case, "Black Canary" or "Black Cat" or "Black Widow?"

Thanks but luckily that's not totally true, the Simpsons is genius and Friends if very well written.

"Heroes meets Two and a Half Men with a little Arrested Development. Wow "
Funny you should say that, when I read the article one thing that it reminded me of was the American version of 'Men Behaving Badly', a very funny program about two slobs who discussed women they fancied and drank beer. One was a womaniser who lusted over the moderately attractive girl upstairs, the other had a fat girlfriend and lusted after the moderately attractive woman upstairs. The American version was almost exactly the same as Two and a Half Men.
Arrested Development was very funny (HBO again) and Heroes - well no one makes action drama as good as the US.

Wow, ABC is going to butcher this. The only way this show works if its on HBO or the very least FX. The Original is funny as hell and very raunchy.

Forget mocking the genre.
Marvel needs to get in the game. Get the rights back to Daredevil. He would make an OUTSTANDING TV series.

First!

You know what would make a great TV series? The Flash. Or maybe a show about Clark Kent and Lois Lane working at the Daily Planet, in a universe where Lex Luthor has hair. They could use an easily forgettable actor for Clark and an actress who will likely run out of steam and attempt a comeback later in life but fail due to jumping the shark by doing a lesbian kiss scene with Swoosie Kurtz.
All sarcasm aside I still don't know how good this will be. I'll watch the pilot and see.
