TheBadandUgly.com has posted new photos of Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and director Guy Ritchie filming Warner Bros. Pictures' Sherlock Holmes in Manchester, England.

In the November 20, 2009 release, based on an original story/comic book by Lionel Wigram, Downey Jr. brings the legendary detective to life as he has never been portrayed before. Law stars as Holmes' trusted colleague, Watson, a doctor and war veteran who is a formidable ally for Sherlock Holmes. Rachel McAdams stars as Irene Adler, the only woman ever to have bested Holmes and who has maintained a tempestuous relationship with the detective. Mark Strong stars as their mysterious new adversary, Blackwood. Kelly Reilly will play Watson's love interest, Mary.

IT LOOKS LIKE HOLMES IS LAW NOT ROBERT

I`ll go see it in 2009.It`s about time that super-sleuth Sherlock Holmes returned to the big-screen.

I saw RDJ on one of the late night talk shows doing the voice of Holmes. It was pretty effin impressive to hear that accent. I hope the story will be just as good as RDJ's performance is going to be.

I really hope this movie can pull a miracle and actually be good, but it's got a lot working against it. Hoping for the best, though, but certainly prepared for the worst.

Is it just me...or does RDJ have an uncanny resemblance to Hugh Jackman in that picture?

Holy mother...is that Hugh Jackman or Downey Jr.?

I just don't see it. He must be in it for the cash, because he sure doesn't come off as Holmes in any of the pictures I have seen. Well, I liked Chaplin, so maybe this will be a sleeper film.

The costumer or the hair guy?

RDJ looks a little high...

Not a fan of Guy Ritchie.

Huge fan of Sherlock Holmes.

Huge fan of RDJ

I really just don't want to see him playing Holmes. After being off the big screen for so long, I would prefer someone who actually reminds me of HOLMES playing him. I have no doubt Robert can act but I'm pretty bleh about this whole thing. The casting is just wrong.

And SNAP, I thought that was Hugh Jackman when I first saw him. (maybe RDJ will be Wolverine, since we are talking big miss-cast here)

I'm still not excited about this movie. In fact i dread it. I know that it's based on a comic book but it's like they think we wont go see it unless theres fight scenes or explosions. They say his intellect will take a backseat to the action. He's supposed to be (in this movie) a detective who can fight, it's like they're turning him into Batman.

Does anybody understand what i'm saying?

Robert looks kinda like a cross between chaplin and richard hammond off Top Gear, i'll go see it as i love the old basil rathbone movies and jeremy bretts series, holmes is an awesome character open to almost endless interpretation although i gotta agree Law looks more like the Holmes we all love so will be an interesting movie to watch.

After looking at this picture, I hear it again. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle rolling over in his grave that is. Warner Bros. should just pull the plug on the movie and fire Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Guy Ritchie. They all suck at what they do and they suck at life. Well that was simply my two cents, you can take it or leave it.

Yeah Jude looks like Holmes not Downey. Maybe theres some kind of twist because if Im not mistaken, Watson is the shorter of the two

Wow... people are a *****...allenging on this blog-board!
First, everybody take a deep breath.
Second, let's talk this through: RDJ is a great actor, agreed? Acting involves playing a role that is opposite of who you are, agreed? Thus, he should do just fine.
Third, as long as you keep the drugs and the hot babysitters away from these two, everybody should be real happy with the end results.
Fourth, he looks nothing like Hugh Jackman in this photo.
Fifth, it looks more like RDJ is pinching Jude's buttox to me.
Sixth, adding explosions and chase scenes to a detective flick is Hollyweird's way of doing things, so we all have to get used to it.
Finally, because it just has to be said, "It's elementary, my dear Watson!"

oops... meant "bit challenging"

I think u guys that think RDJ looks like Hugh Jackman are idiots he looks more like a young Al Pacino.

STUPS

Typical night on the town for RDJ.

Posted by: Superfan on October 30, 2008 at 09:25:02

lol i agree, i thought rdj looked more like a depressed jackman.

Posted by: Superfan on October 30, 2008 at 09:25:48

mebbe even like a stallone lol

Jude Law is an excellent Watson. A perfect gentleman but he also looks like he could have been in a war. I'm still unsure about Robert Downey. I love RDJ but i'm not sure he's the best pick for Holmes. I can't wait to see this after seeing Jude's new picture.
