Some Kick-Ass Set Pics!
September 22, 2008
/Film got their hands on some cool pictures from the Toronto location shoot for Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of Kick-Ass, depicting a scene straight from the comic book by Mark ("Wanted") Millar and John ("Amazing Spider-Man", "Uncanny X-Men", you name it) Romita Jr. The scene being shot by the production's 2nd Unit is of a flying superhero being felled and crashing through a taxi cab, which comes from the opening of the story and movie.
/Film reader Dan B. depicts the scene being shot as such:
“Coming back from a Jays game happen to catch what appeared to be 2nd Unit for Kick-Ass. Didn’t see Matthew Vaughn on site. They seemed to be shooting the opening shots of the movie. The camera starts off facing the wrecked taxi and ends up on a close up of the license plate that reads ‘Kick-Ass’ Here are the shots taken with my Iphone.”
You can see a larger version of the picture above, a couple more pics, as well as a comparison from the same scene in the comic book by clicking here.

YES! Just like in the comics! Thank god! I hope he's gonna be an external narrator as if his story was in the pass. That'd be awesome.

A few of you seem to have actually read the Kick-Ass comic. Is it any good? I just read a wiki synopsis and it sounds like crap. I don't look forward to this as a movie if the entry is accurate.

I've read the first three issues and so far it's pretty decent. Brutal as hell, but that's not a complaint.
Btw, Jeremy, how do you figure they're "Overusing the Kick-ass" phrase? Because it's on the car's license plate...? This comes from the intro of the movie, which makes it pretty damn original, as for the pic being boring, you obviously either didn't click the link, You've never read the comic to get the reference...or you're just a retarded hater...I'll vote for all three at once.

HEll YEs! I cant wait, I just got the 4th issue where Hit-Girl and Big Daddy are introduced, and all I can say is...wow!...If they really stick to the comic then this movie is definately going to live up to its namesake, Kick-Assery all around!

I`ll read the comic before I actually go see the movie. Having that knowledge beforehand of the story before I go see the movie will help, the same way I still have to read the Watchmen book before I go to see the 2009 film of the same name.
I guess we`ll see if Kick-Ass like it`s name implies will ''kick-ass ''when it comes out.

SO F_ckNut, if it's a red cape, no matter what the style is, or the fact that there's no logo on it...it's a Superman Ripoff...? Hmm..ok, who's passing around the stupid juice on SHH? Because more and more idiots are drinking it.
Where do these haters come from? It's like there's a breeding ground somewhere on the net...

The cab has no engine. Is it worth buying the comic this movie is based on?
Posted by: lou-bert vs q-bert on September 23, 2008 at 12:51:10
I'm still not thrilled about a movie being made for a comic that hasn't even finished its run.
Posted by: kickass on September 23, 2008 at 13:02:49
But the comic is fully written and so is the script of the movie. It hasn't been drawn and published yet, but all the writing is finished.

The first 4 issues are out (half the story) and they kick ass!

Just so you guys know, they were doing some exterior shots of a high school here in Hamilton, Ontario. Outside of my old high school. They covered it in graffiti and covered the school's name. If I see anything else than I'll be sure to grab some pics this time.

can't wait. this movie will be epic.

You know Alan Moore, for all of his cocky and smarmy attitude, did make a really good point in that recent Watchmen article about comic books and movies. Some comics are being made today for the sole purpose of getting movie studios interested in making movies about them. Perfect case in point is this movie and the comic it's based on. It hasn't even finished being published and already a movie is being made, copying it frame by frame. Sheesh.
I can just imagine Mark Millar and all the other comic book personnel who do this making scenes not based on how wonderful the imagination can be stretched within the medium's boundary, but how well it'll translate to something on film when they're pitching it to studios.
