This new photo of Heath Ledger as The Joker in Warner Bros. Pictures' The Dark Knight has appeared on the latest issue of Wizard magazine. In the Christopher Nolan-directed Batman Begins sequel, opening July 18, Batman (Christian Bale) raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.

So is the Joker officially going to die in THE DARK KNIGHT, or will they replace Ledger with another actor like they did with replacing Katie Holmes with Maggie Gyllenhaal...

I don't see the Joker dying in this movie, I doubt they even filmed some kind of alternate ending where he did die, probably didn't bother. Ledger was signed to do 2 Batman films. If they do decide to replace him, I vote Giovonni Ribisi.

Giovonni Ribisi? Are you serious? The only person who would even think to suggest that is..well..Giovonni Ribisi. My pick is Crispin Clover

I vote for jouquin PHeonix or however the hell you spell his name either him or their other pick for the joker that guy that was in a beautiful mind one of his hallucinations the one with the child. Maybe even Ray Liotta

Maybe Mark Hamill.
He has the voice for it.

Heath ledger is the once and future joker. There is NO ONE who could replace him.
Are we getting a new dark knight trailer soon?
Posted by: Danny on February 25, 2008 at 19:22:04
Adrien Brody..

Giovonni Ribisi could be a good choice to replace him, same with Crispin Clover, but i'm gonna go with a bloke nun of yous have ever heard of Nathaniel Dean, he's an intense Aussie Actor just like Heath

i vote for Johnny Depp... name someone else more of a freak with an evil laugh...

williem dafoe as the joker
Posted by: jd on March 8, 2008 at 02:04:55
or even gary busey as the joker
Posted by: andrew on March 8, 2008 at 03:49:55
I hope they just do a third one without the joker rather than try to recast him. There are still a lot of really well written villians in the Batman comics that have yet to be used.
Johnny Depp as the Joker... give me a ****ing break.

Mark Hamil cant do a live action Joker, especially after Ledger. They look way 2 different, as well as age. He has the voice like no other, but looks wise, it aint happening. Crispin Glover was on of my choices before Ledger was Cast. I cant wait for this movie!

New Joker? Joseph Gordon Levitt. . .
Posted by: jd on March 8, 2008 at 14:45:06
gary busey would be funny as the joker just slap on some makeup and give him a 40 of vodka.

They might just downplay his role in the next film. Its supposed to be Two-faces turn anyway.

How about Shia LaBoufe(sp?). HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! just kidding

I highly doubt that most of these names that you guys are throwing out will work. What I'm counting on, also what will probably happen, will be that Nolan will ind some way to slowly ease the Joker out of the limelight in this movie or the next. This way, we avoid pissed off fans and keep everything as far as storyline on a clockwork schedule. This will be the Joker's time to shine and then next, Two-Face. Although, cameos would be awesome in future films considering the Joker is Batman's most reoccurring foe, but I highly doubt Heath will be back to reprise the role and no one can do an awesome job like he has. This movie will be the best Batman film we have seen yet and Heath will be the best Joker we have ever seen. Can't wait. R.I.P. Heath...

I do like some of the names put out. Ribisi, is a great actor and Crispin Glover would have a great look. Someone did say Johnny Depp. To any doubters, I'd have to say that Depp would rock the hell out of that role. He's very creative with the characters he portrays...However, on a different note, keep in mind that it's been said that Joker isn't the main villain in this movie. This movie is all about Harvey Dent, Jim Gordon and Batman's war on crime. It gets worse with the up and coming Crime Lord Joker. Whatever they decide to do I cannot wait for Dark Knight. It has resurrected this Batman fan. If only Chris Nolan can do to Superman what he's doing to Batman. RIP Heath!!!

somebody said adrian broday..HELL FRIGGIN YEA!!!..RIP to heath ledger..im sure he'll be a sick joker and itll be an awesome n freaky batman flick..but if they went on looks alone..adrian brody LOOKS like friggin JOKER!! the long pointy chin, the long face...i dont know why this guy didnt do it in the first place...i can tell u right now..with the events that happened, joker will not be in any recurring roles in any batman films...at least not anytime soon..u know how hollywood does..they gotta give other villains their time to shine..i vote BANE for the next flick..n throw robin in there too..i'd love to see chris nolan's take on a badass **** grayson with a sick costume..
Posted by: Sick Joker on March 9, 2008 at 04:33:03
Christian Bale's Batman will never have a Robin. Bale and Chris Nolan said so since before "Batman Begins" was released.
As far as villains? Deadshot or Black Mask would be awesome!

I'd vote for Johnny Depp as Ledger's Joker replacement. What do you guys think?
