November 19, 2009
Marvel's Joe Quesada and comics writer Brian Michael Bendis have been tweeting about the sets they visited for Marvel Studios' Thor. Quesada wrote:
I could listen to Branagh talk about Thor all day long. Cast is in place, sets are being built and screenplay is brilliant. Marveldom rules!
Bendis added the following in two tweets:
Broadcasting live from marvel west. Thor movie meeting with Ken branagh was over the top amazing. Visited the sets! I was in Odin's chamber!
U should get in line for the Thor movie today. Just saying.
Sounds like things are well underway. Thor, to be directed by Kenneth Branagh and opening May 20, 2011, stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore, Samuel L. Jackson, Stellan Skarsgard, Stuart Townsend, Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano.

Definately looking forward to this one! I just hope they can capture the grandure of Asgard...the rainbow bridge...THOR...Odin, & make it all believable!
If they change Thor's costume, I'll know they're not serious about getting it right.

FREAKING EXCITED!

"If they change Thor's costume, I'll know they're not serious about getting it right."
What a silly, shortsighted thing to say. As if a literal translation of 'Thor' would ever work on screen and be taken seriously by the public it needs to succeed.
Costume changes are fine. It's the underlying spirit of stories and characters that have to remain the same.

Wish I was there.
I'm jealous.
Look forward to the promo pics from Marvel! Marvel Studios - Show us the goods ASAP! Whether it's a teaser or more please, thanks.

Why is it that Bendis is involved with this movie? He doesn't even write the comic (maybe I'm just jealous). :)
He should get back to the computer and hammer out some more comics.

You guys amaze me! Change the costume, don't change the costume. So much about Smallville changing Hawkmans costume then when they didn't you complain. Looking forward to Thor, I think Brannah will be faithful to this.

His new costume could work - chain mail type and leather - this will be great - Branagh has got the stuff (and cast) to make it work!

I hope no one is really looking forward to the "rainbow bridge" because I can pretty much guarantee you now that it won't be in the movie.

I think his newer costume would look better on screen compared to his classic tiger striped boots era costume

Like Quesada or Bendis would ever say, "Just visited the set ... not sure how I feel about this movie. It could go either way, but I'm thinking there's a chance Thor Fans might not like it." Of course they're gonna hype up their own flick long before anything has even been photographed.
I do hope this flick does well. Marvel needs another big hit!

I would have preferred brannagh to do Captain America

My cousin actually works at the studio building sets and he actually told me not to expect this big bright shiny Asgard. He said that they are trying to show that Odin and the Asgardians life in a kingdom that looks more like Rohan than the white tower.
He also said that the sketches of the outfits are loyal but not to expect literal translations. Don't expect white wings on the helment. Don't expect vibrant colors. They want to establish the royalty of it, but the fact that they have been at constant war forever.
Thor will have some alterations, but will NOT be an exact translation.
Hate to ruin your day.

yeah. I'm sure. ruin everyone's fun Beyond Congtrol. Why don't you commit suicide cause your mother rapes your cousin repeatedly in the ass. HAHA!

I'm really not looking for an exact translation of wardrobe or sets from the pages of the comic. Some of that stuff is just going to look silly on screen if they design it exactly like the comic. Just like Galactus, a forty or fifty foot man eating a planet was just going to look stupid. It works on the pages of the comics but not on screen.

@ BeyondControl - Yes, well my 3rd cousin's 2nd wife's, retarded son's pet goat told me that Asgard will big and bright and shiny. The goat also told that the outfits are loyal and to expect white wings on the helment and vibrant colours
LOL - I love these people that say they are "related" to someone or "know" someone working on the movie - I guess it makes them think that their comment(s) in the thread that much more valid?
In regards to the comments Quesada & Bendis - pretty cool I must say and I am really looking forward to this movie.
PS - the pet goat (named Billy) also told me who is playing Captain America, but he has sworn me to secrecy.

Marvel guys promoting a Marvel movie? This is unheard of!
But seriously, I am getting more interested in this movie every day. It sounds like it going to be pretty awesome.
Posted by: boomerp on November 19, 2009 at 10:55:24
as far as the costume is concerned i think we just need to be able to look at it and recognize it as thor or baldur or odin instead of a random viking. as long as we dont need to look at the actor to know who they're playing, ill be satisfied. that being said, i agree with most of the above. the modern chainmail costume seems to be the best bet.

This may quite possibly be the mouse that roared for Marvel.

So far Thor is looking awesome. Could be a hugh suprise.
I'm a little bit curious about Captain America though. The movie is due shortly after Thor, yet there is no casting, no date to start shooting, no sets are build. Basiclly, there is nothing for this movie yet. When are they gonna make it?
Posted by: joe on November 19, 2009 at 14:09:19
it will be bad
Posted by: Venom on November 19, 2009 at 14:21:01
Yes this is going to be the ultimate. Thor the Mighty Thunder God will be kick-a$$ and then we will have Captain America and finally the Avengers! Just wish they would make another Hulk movie.
