November 11, 2009
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that The CW has decided to turn "Smallville's" upcoming Justice Society-themed two-parter into a two hour movie event airing on January 29.
Written by Geoff Johns, the episodes - titled "Society" and "Legends" and featuring such DC Comics stalwarts as Stargirl, Hawkman, and Dr. Fate - were originally designed to air separately.
Scooper 'CW Insider' also tells us that The CW gave the two-parter a huge budget upgrade.

Fingers crossed for an Alan Scott Green Lantern appearance, too. Due to Power Girl's alternate Krypton origin, I'm guessing they won't use her, unfortunately.

Green Lantern would be nice, but hate to break it to you, GL, like Batman, is off lin****. They can't use him.

Oh, and I meant limits, not lin****, lol.

what is Phanboy talking about in post #3?

I hope it's included in the DVD season, and not as some separate promo DVD that I'll have to ALSO buy. That's probably why they gave it a budget upgrade: so they have something else to peddle to the poor souls who still enjoy the show.

i think this is their way of testing whether or not a smallville movie would be successful. if this show does well i wouldn't be surprised if they go that route once smallville's run is over.

Damon:
Geoff Johns has been quoted that Hawkman will indeed have wings and a mace.

Cool... I've liked the episodes with the teams in them. They're more focused on Clark. Which is nice. Because lately i feel like he's almost an afterthought to the writers.

It could be their way of doing what the courts ordered and making a Superman movie. And if they were to sell this as a dvd movie without what they could do is what they did with season one and make the two episodes look like one movie and when the season box set comes out have the two episodes two different episodes.

When they thru Doomsday into the Smallville series it killed it for me. I was actually happy with the way they screwed up the continuity previously with everything else but adding Doomsday was a big desparate mistake. Not looking forward to Hawkmans look but glad to see the society make an appearance. Should be cool.

This show is terrible but Geoff Johns knows what he's doing. It does sound interesting.

Is this going to be as epic as the Doomsday episodes? ;)
All Smallville knows how to do is CHEESE. And when is superboy going to stop being emo and when will he have the will to fly?? Sorry, this show is boring.

So far this seasons has this season has been one the best of the 9. So I really doubt if this will suck. I'm thinking we'll be getting flight in this episode due to the grandure of it. There's probably gonna be a kick ass villian and/or perilous situation which force him to fly. This is gonna be Tom Wellings confirmation as Superman finally, and the movies will follow.

Hell yeah, making these two episodes is a great idea! But what's the title going to be?
Note to all the people complaining that Clark's not flying yet: He's not going to fly. Stop pretending that you don't already know this. No tights, no flights--they've been saying this from the very beginning. If you're counting on Smallville to abandon its premise when there's no indication that they intend to do so, you're consciously choosing to disappoint yourselves.
