smallville has lost it's touch, not that this isn't cool, its just not superman. The show was sweet when it started but in my opinion has gotten progressively worse... FIRST

I think its gonna be a great season !!!!

Oh yeah, no one would ever mistake Clark for Superman/Superboy now, because, you know, he's wearing a t-shirt, jeans, and a trechcoat...jeezus. You know things are bad when his old regular 'Clark' outfit looks more Superman-ish than his 'Superboy' outfit does.

I don't hate on Smallville, it is what it is, but even so, that outfit pretty damn lame any way you cut it...

Countdown to "But the Connor Kent Superboy just wore a t-shirt and jeans in the comics" rebuttal in three, two, one...

They are really dragging this out....holding off with the costume and "flying". He knows that he has the ability to fly, but ignores it. What kind of person today would not embrace that? Clark Kent would not be that stupid....how many pairs of shoes has he wore out running at super-speed? Must get expensive...and...who is not going to recognize him? Will the 21st century costume be sporting some kind of hood or mask?????

Posted by: HulkForHire on September 5, 2009 at 02:18:53

Cool story idea...."Superman" from an elseworld's universe wearing the classic blue/red costume accidently lands in Smallville/Metropolis while chasing a bad guy, and gives ol' Clark a glimpse at would could/will be...

That's not Clark! It's the Eradicator, an archival construct from Krypton who awoke in the books when Clark died to find a way to bring him back to life. Doomsday supposedly killed Clark at the end of last season. That's why Chloe thought he was kind of cold when talking to him at the end of last season. Clark is dead! Looks cool though!

guys, they said it's his training suit. It's a good start. I guess they have to change his name to "black, or dark blur" or something.

i didn't even know this show was still on the air. why are they cancelling good shows and leaving crap like this on t.v. WELL it is the CW. the CW sucks!!

Posted by: TheComicbookkid on September 5, 2009 at 02:31:12

Did is mommy spray paint that symbol on too?

Posted by: Nico on September 5, 2009 at 02:33:30

I am not a superman fan at all, I am just clearly stating that when I was a kid I do remember superman having a grey and black outfit like that minus the trench coat

Posted by: Jor-El on September 5, 2009 at 02:35:01

This show went south when the creators left. What started as a fresh take of: No Flights & no Tights has turned into an absolute butchering of the Superman mythology. He could never be Superman at this point and enough with the fast running he's not the freaking flash...

Do they actually think people forgot the Neo flying scene in Matrix Reloaded? Come on. His suit came in his little space ship, just put it on.

Posted by: Antonio on September 5, 2009 at 02:39:30

AWESOME! This is a great step on Clark's journey to the red & blue. Smallville just keeps getting more amazing every year.

Posted by: DatSuperHero on September 5, 2009 at 02:39:38

way better than the superman returns.

Posted by: Intrepid on September 5, 2009 at 02:46:40

Why do they have to drag everything out like this. He has one suit just do it the way we all know and love from the comic and leave it at that. They need to stop trying to reinvent the wheel all the time and just do it the way its supposed to be. There is no "transformation" of suits in his early life. Lame.

I actually laughed out loud when I read the title of this article. Clearly, they're not fooling anybody into thinking that this is *ahem* Superman, even if it is a prototype.

The shield is a relative knock-off of the SR one, is way too small, and looks (as someone mentioned) like it was painted on.

And there were those who called the SR suit crappy. Ohh man...how's that crow tasting right now?

Posted by: Moviesnob on September 5, 2009 at 03:02:57

Dude WTF is this ****ing bull****?!!! This isn't Superman you ****ing idiots! This is a wannabe Neo which is ****ing ironic since The Matrix Reloaddd showcased Neo flying like the man of steel. No, this is a total bastardization if Superman and a complete cluster**** of an idea, followthrough and a kick in the nuts to Superman fans. It's taking everything we know and love about Superman and ****ting on it with half-assed ideas by a clueless marketing department and cokes up movie executives. Seriously Warner Brothers allows **** like this to happen to Superman but they won't let comic creators do less controversial things to the character in comics? This show ****s on and bastardizes on everything Superman artists and writers have done since the characters creation. Come on, Clark in black clothes, a trenchcoat and a blue neon spray painted sign on his black tshirt?!

Posted by: CaptainHulk on September 5, 2009 at 03:04:58

Why don't you people stop crying about everything?

Posted by: TWithers on September 5, 2009 at 03:05:43

I'm surprised the actor was able to keep a straight face long enough for them to take this picture. When did Superman become a fairy biker???

Seriously, how the hell is this crappy show still on the air. Horrible special effects. Terrible story lines. Bad acting. It's like Dawson's Creek with superpowers.

I just can't lose enough IQ points to watch Smallville for any appreciable length of time.

Posted by: thisguy on September 5, 2009 at 03:14:06

this some kind of joke? i thought this show was cancelled!

why oh why oh why!

and reaper gets cancelled

oh well...smallville...dear smallville...tisk tisk tisk

Posted by: J W on September 5, 2009 at 03:56:28

Okay if they wanted to go this route and use a pseduo-suit why didn't they go with a dark red trenchcoat and a blue tee with the classic red/yellow S on it, then it would at least look like a jumping off point to the classic suit. This looks like a cheap Matrix knock-off. I sometimes wonder how this show is still on the air...especially considering the crap we got last season.
