Paul Levitz Talks Batman, Superman and More!
October 10, 2008
Latino Review got a chance to talk to DC Comics President Paul Levitz this week about the status of the third Christopher Nolan-directed Batman film, the Superman reboot (Brandon Routh is still in the mix!), and more. Here are several clips:
In fact, he told me that "Last week Brandon Routh has come around the offices in New York and Los Angeles as of late to talk about Superman and what we want to do."
"Everyone is waiting for Nolan to sign on for another Batman, once that happens, the release date for Superman and all other future projects will follow."

Thank God they're keeping Routh. Would've been a shame to oust him :)
I am now in full support of the reboot.

if Nolan doesnt return for a 3rd Batman movie, dont bother making it.
DC your doing it again...just cast Tom Welling as Superman, everyones been dying to see that anyways.

Great news, though it's not really news, more speculation than news but still worth a read. Johnny Depp - Riddler - (he could do a Joker couldn't he) - Phillip Seymour Hoffman - Penguin - (that would work, I like that idea) Angelina Joely - Catwoman - (oh god please, please, tight, tight catsuit) - C'mon! Let's av it!

Brandon Routh is the stupidest superman ever. Why can't anyone get it right? They need to go for the cool old animated style, where it's all industrial and art deco. Instead they made a dumb copy of the original superman movies with christopher reeves. They just tried to make it exactly the same.
So dumb...the next movie will be exactly the same as all the rest.
How can it be expected to be considered a reboot if they have the same actor that killed the last one?
Posted by: Dance Monkey Dance on October 10, 2008 at 02:52:22
Noooooooo, Routh is Superman, he was the best thing about that Movie, He 'IS' the new Superman!

yay!

OMG!
whatever.
“Superman Returns” was derivative crap. Dump Routh and do a real action / adventure Superman movie that ignores Donner (30 years ago, get the hell over it!!) Or forget it.

Though now i think about it a harder, tougher Superman would be cool to see, no Welling, No Routh, Maybe Busta Rhymes could do it! Wooha wooha!

dance monkey dance is right...he IS the new superman...u cant really blame him for the entire movie, personally i liked it.seriously...sho me someone better

Good Brandon Routh did a great job as Superman...really nailed the Christopher Reeves feel and tempo. So....get rid of Brian (Boring) Singer....and get a director that knows action and style and we should be set!
Posted by: chip on October 10, 2008 at 02:59:17
you can't blame brandon for his portrayal. singer messed up trying to rehash the donner movie. it has potential to be good as long as they don't refer to returns at all. no kid...nuff said.

No to Routh, if their going to do a reboot get someone better.
Posted by: Xybalba on October 10, 2008 at 03:03:48
...Brandon is ok as this next generations Superman...just give him an action-packed script with lots of punches (and NO Lois or SuperKid)...revisit the costume with bright colors, bigger 'S' shield and make him buff and teach him to comb his hair or cut it so he can look like a man, not the metrosexual model he is...

I hate all of you.

YAY!!!!
YES, WB, DC, BRANDON MUST RETURN, cuz HE IS SUPERMAN!!! HE IS THE REAL DEAL!!
I ALSO LOVED SUPERMAN RETURNS AND WISH TO SEE A SEQUEL WITH BRYAN SINGER AS A DIRECTOR. I KNOW HE CAN DELIVER; HE DID IT WITH X-MEN2. *SIGH* BUT I SOO HOPE THIS RUMOR IS TRUE.
BRING ROUTH BACK, WB!!

Fortunately the Real Stan Lee isn't a complete moron like the fake stan lee here.

Brandon Routh IS Superman these days. Tom Welling is good for Smallville, but all in all, that show's just a spinoff, a fad, and thus that's what Tom's become: trendy, but not legendary. Smallville was never iconic, classic, or all the other things that made the Christopher Reeve movies so special. Brandon is definitely the best contender, by leaps and bounds. (Pun intended.) He deserves to fulfill his potential!

"Everyone is waiting for Nolan to sign on for another Batman, once that happens, the release date for Superman and all other future projects will follow."
So, this all depends on when the next Batman movie comes out?

blueyes:
I absolutely agree with you in the fact that Brandon Routh "IS SUPERMAN!!! HE IS THE REAL DEAL!!" And, I also loved Superman Returns, but I thought Brian Singer could have done so much better. He kinda screwed up this Superman movie by going back to the Christopher Reeve movies. It was done 30 years ago. I am so sure that Brian could have found a new plot for the Superman movie. Also, he did not deliver with X2. That was a really stupid movie that also could have been done better. I think Brian should quit his day job and go find something else.

What's with all the moronic comments?
Anyway, I say keep Routh, but recast everyone else, especially Lois. Bosworth's performance wasn't anything memorable.

GREAT NEWS.
It's sad we're gonna have to wait till 2012; but keeping Brandon Routh as Superman is the smartest move ever.
He'll probably look older and more mature by then compared to 2006. He already does.
He'll be 32, that'd be perfect for Supes.
Posted by: Melies on October 10, 2008 at 03:39:32
anybody can tell me how a reboot is possible if they keep the same actor?
Imagine explaining a Batman Reboot, starring Micheal Keaton. Or Casino Royale if Pierce brosnan would have kept on being Bond...
wth??
either reboot it, or you don't.
In my opinion, I liked the casting of Sups Returns, but what bothered me was that Kevin spacey wasn,t playing Luthor, he was playing Gene Hackman playing Luthor. Same thing for Routh, wasn't playing superman, he was playing Chris Reeves' rendition of Sups.
We need something fresh. A new start. forget the old movies, they were good, but it's been 30 years. START. ALL. OVER.
my 2 cents
