Looks like it has potential but I think I'll wait to read reviews first. Hey it's got Eva Mendes, that alone makes it worth renting at least!

Well, I think I've just made my decision...

I will NOT be spending my money to see this in theaters. I will NOT be buying the DVD.
I will however rent it.

Sorry, Frank.

I haven't decided. I do like the sepia tone of the film, give it that feel of a dark movie, but they could have done the same thing with the new Punisher movie too. If Christmas day is a boring and sucky day, probably catch a flick and eat some popcorn.

Looks kinda stupid. I'll probably still see it and buy the DVD

My prediction of the ending, based solely on what I know of Frank Miller (as of late):

Samuel L. Jackson uses some preposterously large weapon on The Spirit. The Spirit is gonna die and he's all cool about it. Then he doesn't. Then he spouts some middle schooly fanfic-y ****. Then he boinks some chick in a wind tunnel.

x-mas day release, is that a smart move for this film, it all ready has little interest or fan following from the members on here and were all comic fans, mmm...

I will probably watch it in the cinema :)
Im actually excited about this film, i mean, sure it doesn't seem to be the real Spirit, atleast not the Will Eisners' Spirit comic i got at home, looks more like The Spirit found his way to Sin City, but still.

Looks good.

Everything about this movie looks terrible.

I predict a bomb.

you people dont know what you are talking about, this flick is gonna be great and do great business

i cant wait to see it

Haha, I kinda got this Home Alone vibe hearing that music, buuuuuuuuuut I have to say I'm very keen to see this. Should be interesting, c'mon Xmas!

Classic example of less is more. The tv spot looks better than the trailer, but I'm not sold. This would have made me curious, but the trailer really turned me off. If word of mouth is good, I'll go see it so I'm trusting all my peeps on this forum to tell it straight.

maybe someone should tell frank miller that the spirit aint sin city!

Posted by: hiime on November 25, 2008 at 13:26:34

does he have to say
"im on my way" in every trailer/tv spot

I'm actually suprised about the lack of support this movie is getting, but not every movie's gonna be a winner. I for one will see it. IMO, Frank Miller's got another success on his hands.

Miller is a douchebag. He only cares about satisfying his own ego. Which is bigger than the world and beyond... This movie doesn't look interesting to me at all. So, I will probably skip it...

Hey Frank, how about finishing 'All Star Batman And Robin' sometime this decade??

i think its a bad idea to play christmas music with promos for movies. I still have a nasty taste in my mouth from AVPR-which did the same thing. it didnt do very well

Posted by: Blood on November 25, 2008 at 20:54:41

Billy, that is because avpr was crap.

The Spirit is defintely on his way to save the day(not unlike **** Tracy who always used to say ''I`m on my way'',but as for me I`ll decide for myself whether or not it`s time to believe. And I figure everybody else will too,if they believe in the project or if their curiosity`s been peaked than they`ll go see
it if not than..we`ll end up with the 2008 version of Billy Zane`s disastrous corny camp-fest''The Phantom.''
Although to Frank Miller`s credit The Spirit looks way cooler than Superhero movies that failed to meet the grade like Meteor Man,Blankman,The Shadow(it wasn`t bad,but it could`ve been better)The Phantom,Steel, and Batman and Robin,Underdog,My Super Ex-girlfriend,Zoom,Superhero movie(which I actually consider a failure to even to make a spoof out of a Superhero movie) and Hancock.

The Spirit looks like it has potential to be a holiday hit(and yes, even though The Spirit is Will Eisner`s creation,as the argument goes The Spirit does look like another Frank Miller graphic novel that`s been adapted into a live-action movie but like I`ve said before that`s just ''the Frank-Miller treatment''-that is the super stylized visuals, grim and gritty-feel and amped up surrealism that I think he subconsciously brings to everything he works on whether the project is of his imagining or not.)

Posted by: jrobert on November 26, 2008 at 00:17:53

It`s funny because I`ve heard others say that The Spirit posters strike them as the types of posters you might see for a Batman movie( or even a Dardevil movie) if it was directed by Frank Miller .Like the ''my city screams '' poster but Frank Miller`s the man responsible for the revolutionary The Dark Knight, the classic Batman:Year one and the unhinged ''goddamed Batman from the All-Star Batman and Robin comics. So those are just the aesthetics that Frank Miller brings for The Spirit. But The Spirit while a great pulp crimefighting hero is not Batman and come December the movie will either make ''believers'' out of people or it won`t.
