If you view this just as a movie and not a comic adaptation, it will be good.

This is either going to be pretty good or really bad.
65% of being terrible.
35% chance of being good

This isn't an Eisner tribute?!!!
OK... then I guess it's Miller's version of the Spirit... so that can be good... but, don't you think that Will Eisner's style was the heart of the Spirit comic?
Im not shure about this movie... I like Miller's work, but I think he is getting too much spotlight on this one.

How about not be a moron and wait to see? Listing made up chances is pointless.

Anyways, wow they're releasing this on Christmas day? What a bunch of *******s, they're going to hell. Along with anyone who watches this on that day.

Miller knows what he is doing and wont mess this up, Eisner was his mentor for cryin out loud!
people might complain about his work, but who else would you want makin this flick?
it looks great and i cant wait!!!
Posted by: Spiderman on October 20, 2008 at 17:58:30
Dr. Doc, you moron. Will Eisner wasn't Miller's mentor. Miller's been saying this and that, but the two NEVER ONCE MET IN PERSON.
I could read Spiderman comics all day, and say that Stan Lee is my mentor, but does that make it true? **** no.

Wow! Glad I held back on opinions for this long, this trailer makes the film look to be cool. Time will tell, but I'm optimistic now.

Hey Gesus,
Christmas day is an arbitrary date for Christ's supposed birth...the Pagan's had been partying on all of the cool dates thanks to the summer and winter Solstice and the change of the seasons. The various other already established religions also were observing celebrations etc around the same times, so the church wrote up their own similar dates.
Besides, not everyone is of the christian faith and they need something to look forward to do on the 25th after a peking duck dinner.
Faw-rah-rah-rah-rah Rah-rah-rah-rah.

No no no no no no no no no no no NO.
If this is Miller's "tribute" to the Spirit, then I think the Spirit is ill-served by Miller's obscene fetishes. Ugh.

comic snobs are the worst, any one name dropping and fact blurting needs to relax... okay cool you know the comic.. this is amovie aobut it.. i get it... listing all of your little snaple facts make you no cooler. This movie looks great, hopefully he can start adapting his own work soon

@ Spiderman
hey dipstick, Miller and Eisner did meet before
Miller met Eisner some time after he created Elektra for marvel and told him that the Sand Saref story from The Spirit was the inspiration behind the famous Daredevil story where Elektra was killed
Miller is awesome and i cant wait to see this flick!
Posted by: Anton Ego on October 20, 2008 at 21:54:36
I disagree; Miller ceased to be "awesome" a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. He's become a self-indulgent egotist who traffics in abnormal fetish and grotesque violence. He makes me sick.

There's been too much advanced publicity on this movie. and it's for one reason and one reason alone.
FRANK HAS THOROUGHLY ****ED THIS MOVIE UP!
There's no about of spin that's going to save this.
Frank's not what he once was,and doesn't know how to write a good story anymore. Let alone how to make a good movie.
Hell he can't even draw decently anymore.
This movie's a disgrace to Eisner and his legacy.
I know I'm being presumptuous, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to this this movie blows.
Posted by: ico on October 21, 2008 at 02:27:27
So basically he didnt want to do it but did, because he didnt want anybody else to make it.

I finally saw SIN CITY on television recently and I COULD NOT stand the style of the movie and the way it was filmed.
That whole visual style might have a fan genre, but it's just not for me.
And I'm glad most superhero movies are not filmed this way.
I saw the Spirit trailer and if that is the indication, it looks like the Sin City filming style.
This is one movie I will not see, unless it's on free TV. Besides this is a comic and character I did not grow up with and was from a generation of books I never read.
This character doesn't hold my interest, and from the trailer, neither will the way this film is shot.
To those who like the character or movie style, GREAT and I hope it's a good movie for you. For me this is a meh movie and one I won't be spending money on.

Looks good. I'll have to say that I wish he didn't rely on the Sin City style so much, but it still looks very promising. I'm going to see it!
