Two items related to Frank Miller today. First up, UGO has debuted two new posters for The Spirit which feature Gabriel Macht and Samuel L. Jackson. You can check out the posters by clicking the image below!
Staying with The Spirit for a moment, BadTaste.it tells us that Miller was in Rome to present Liongate's Christmas Day release. He showed a new trailer and four scenes from the film. You can read descriptions of the footage shown here!
In the Q&A session with Miller, he also touched on Sin City 2:
I can't talk about my projects, because I don't believe a movie is real until I see the title on the screen. There are many things that can go wrong. But I can tell you that I'm very close to begin 'Sin City 2' with Robert Rodriguez. We have to arrange a few things and we'll be back in action.

Miller's got no real vision. He's just got a bunch of mindless nerds buying up his crap no matter what it is.

Sin City 2 sounds good.Frank Miller is a visionary of the comicbook world and I`ve been a fan of his work for quite some time.I`m not so sure about The Spirit though.
The Spirit falls into that category with the great pulp crimefighters like **** Tracy,The Shadow,The Green Hornet and DC Comics`s The Question(now that would be interesting to see on screen).Frankly, the movie poster for The Spirit is a bit confusing. Is that light emanating from within The Spirit is or is he supposed to be full of bullet holes?
The Spirit movie could either be a sleeper hit or really, really suck. But I`ll give the film the benefit of the doubt and I`ll go see it in December. I guess we`ll see if Frank Miller can do it again.

" I can't talk about my projects, because I don't believe a movie is real until I see the title on the screen. "
What??? I'm not sure I get what he's saying. When you show a trailer, isn't that talking about it? I know trailers show a title, but I feel he could have worded this a little better. Or maybe I'm just dumb enough to not get it.

I dunno what it is, but this just doesn't look interesting or worth checking out.
I really want to be fair and wait to see more trailers before making a final judgment, but everything looks so poor.
I want to give Frank Miller the benefit of the doubt, but yikes.

WIN = Eisneresque lettering in the background.
FAIL = Should be tinted blue.
FAIL = Showing the Octopus' face
FAIL = Samuel L Jackson as The Octopus
FAIL = Frank Miller & anything other than stories with Marv, Spartans, and other pissed-off, blood-thirsty maniacs.

Im sick of people comparing this movie to Sin City, its going to be in FULL COLOR, that and if anyone has ever read any of the old or new Spirit comics, he is a great charecter that definately should have had a movie way before this. Personally I think it looks great, apart from showing Samuel L. in the trailer...that is probably whats turing everyone off since you never actually see the octopus in the comic. Either way I cant wait and think this movie is going to be simply awsome, I have full trust in Frank Miller's work.

From what I saw in July at Comic Con, this movie looks putrid. In the year of the great achievement that The Dark Knight is, this movie will make us all remember how not to make a comic movie....

Glad to hear about Sin City 2 is happening! I love Miller, even though his writing sucks now, but man The Spirit looks terrible!

I love Millers style. He is very creative, not everyone will like his art or style. But I do ^.^

I'm honestly very excited for The Spirit. I think it's going to be one of those super bizarre mix of everything that's just plain awesome in the end. I'm sure it'll probably get raped by critics, not that that means anything. Good for Miller for having fun making movies! I'd love to see him do a Daredevil/Elektra film...Good times.

I found $20 in a parking lot last night and now I find out that Sin City 2 is going to happen! What a week!

I don't think Frank's aiming for anything more than entetainment value, which suits me fine. His style should help to detract from some of the cheesier subject matter that comes from such an old comic...as long as he's written a fun script, this should be good...but we won't know that till Christmas.

How soon you all forget that this is the ****er that brought us Robocop 2.
And the reason The Spirit was never made into a movie, was because Eisner didn't feel it could be done in a way that wouldn't destroy all the years he invested in the comic.
Frank Miller pretty much just **** on Will Eisner's grave by making a Spirit movie post-mortem - and giving a weak, bull**** explanation why Denny's trenchcoat isn't dark blue.
Stupid ****.

I'll watch it. Might be bad, might be good. Right now, I'm looking forward to it.
I think the main problem is that, The Spirit seems impossible to make into a motion picture. The art, the style, the history, those corky funny moments, those action packed ones, those sad depressing moments. Miller is trying to take everything he's studied about The Spirit and convert it to film and make it look good enough for audiences to want to watch it. It's a tough job.
Sin City 2, very awesome. can't wait.

Frank Miller lost his mind with The Dark knight Strikes Again, and keeps getting worse year after year.
I'll pass...
