Source:Entertainment Weekly
July 8, 2009

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Cameron Diaz is considering an offer to play the female lead in The Green Hornet, opposite Seth Rogen.

The magazine says a deal hasn't been sealed yet, but that she is in early talks for the role.

Michel Gondry is set to direct the film based on a script by Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg. Columbia Pictures is planning a July 9, 2010 release.

****ing horrible actress for a ****ing horrible remake to begin with. Rogen's gonna kill the hornet.

I still think this could be a fun film and show some range for Rogan.

i think that with the right ppl this movie could be pretty good! oh and another thing FIRST!!!! HA HA HA

I really hope this turns out to be false. Sony's Green Hornet deserves to die!

Posted by: Crud Monitor on July 8, 2009 at 17:53:05

Oh No. Cameron Diaz has already done the green thing. Remember the Mask? I hated that movie and she doesn't have the looks anymore. This is a disaster. Capital Crud!

rumor is that they are trying to get Pitt too.

Cool! I love Cameron Diaz!

Poor movie. It's not done and already stink. Why don't they invest the money elsewhere. If you want to see Green Hornet, see the Bruce Lee's episodes. That's enough...

Throwing this out there, WurmTerd 69 is cracking me up on these boards today. Making me poop m'pants, if you will.

Do me a favor WurmTerd, post on this site every day. These pages need a little humor.

Only reason this should fair is because they seem to be doing a comedy conversion of a serious property. Those never really work despite what Diaz will probably tell you about how well Charlies Angels did.

Rogan's great but he's not the Hornet, even if he was he'd need to drop some major weight and he'd still be to bulky to look right.. Diaz, no matter what she's in or which critic praises her, is a terrible actress with a goofy smile and an annoying laugh.

I dont care about this movie. Its gonna be funny to see Rogen skinny though

Posted by: Who Cares on July 8, 2009 at 19:54:01

Man this movie isn't even in post-production but I know sucks because no one can play Kato other than Bruce Lee and Rogen is a fat stupid dummy and not funny and Cameron Diaz sucks and isn't pretty and blah blah blah blah blah.

I think it's funny how people are bad mouthing a movie that hasn't even shown anything yet. I mean, seriously, you are all the same people who cried fail when Heath "Brokeback" Ledger was signed to do the Joker and then mysteriously forgot about all the crap you had said six months earlier. I have an idea for all of you. Wait until you see the movie to pass judgment.

Oh, and Seth Rogen isn't really fat anymore. He's lost quite a bit of weight.

Who cares to "Who Cares." You're probably a brokeback fatty who can't get a girlfriend.

Well, it looks for certain that GH is going to try for that hard-to-hit mix of action and comedy.

IMHO Cameron Diaz is a good actress for romcom, and she can dig up the emotion for the sadder parts of those films. And she can do action (cv Charlie's Angels) of course. So while I think she'd be out of her depth at anything more serious, she could be right for this type of movie.

The trick is, is The Green Hornet right for this type of movie? I can appreciate the challenge - do you go full-on and possibly dark ("Dark Knight wanna-be" cry the fans and critics)? Do you go standard comic book movie, a la Spiderman, and hope that ship hasn't sailed?

Or do you go Charlie's Angels and make it a fun lark, action with a sense of humour and wink to the audience (rather like many of the Roger Moore 007 flicks)?

Now in theory that course of action is a smart one to take because it poses fewer risks in toto. But it's also the hardest to get right, so it poses the biggest risk in its initial trajectory - if your initial aim is off by more than a degree, the movie will be El Floppo.

And if Cameron Diaz signs up then she almost pigeon-holes the movie from the start. "If it's got Cameron Diaz then it's gonna be action-funny" will be the instant take of audience and critics.

So if this is where Green Hornet is heading, then strength to the guys, but let's please get that precarious mix 100% right... or we'll be facing Yet Another Reboot come 2015!

Seriously, who the hell cares for this lame movie? I mean, The Green Hornet is not the type of character like say Spider-Man, Batman, or Superman. This film can be good, it has all the pieces slowly falling into place (i.e. Michel Gondry, Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz), but I just hope they don't make this thing into a typical Judd Apatow Club production.

Want to know how bad of an actress Cameron Diaz is? Not even Martin Scorsese could get a good performance out her in Gangs of New York.

Seth Rogen was funny in some of the movies I've seen him in but he's a fat ****. Are we supposed to believe he can play a hero who can kick peoples asses? Puhlease. And Cameron Diaz. She's a played out hag, the kind of woman who's out of place with her age that she tries to act and dress young. Kind of how you see pathetic Sandra Bullock play these roles she's used to playing as the younger woman when it's plain she's older. It's sad. And Charlies Angels was a turd of a movie. McGs career started at his football movie, everything before was garbage. And picking piggy Drew Barrymore as a femme fatale? Ahahaha right.

This keeps getting worse by the day.

Posted by: huh? on July 8, 2009 at 22:56:55

so she's gonna play green hornet's grandma, right?

oh no...

Posted by: dywm on July 9, 2009 at 00:26:30

Cameron Diaz is old and leathery and doesn't know when its time to stop taking roles that attractive women should have.

This is a great movie...FOR ME TO POOP ON!!!
You've got to be kidding me. Every pick for this movie is a joke and an insult to the fans. For pete's sake, Think Wendy Wagner...a great pick for her role would be Rose McGowan! Actually Brad Pitt would not be a bad pick for the lead. I'm sure there's better but NOT ROGAN That's like putting Schwartzenneger for the lead in SHOWGIRLS! As for Kato... um gee let's see what I can do for casting, how about Jason Scott Lee? He played Bruce once already, how big of a stretch (and tie-in) would it be?? Come on people THINK!!

Posted by: Rufus on July 9, 2009 at 09:29:43

CAMERON DIAZ? Man, I was hoping for Elizabeth Banks for the female lead. Who would want to pay to see Cameron Diaz onscreen? Good God! That ***** wouldn't tell what to do in a scene.
