The Green Hornet Gets Pushed Two Weeks
July 1, 2009
Columbia Pictures has moved director Michel Gondry's comic book adaptation The Green Hornet back two weeks from June 25, 2010 to July 9, 2010. It was a move to make room for the studio's all-star comedy Grown Ups, which was moved from March 12 to June 25, 2010.
While no other film is scheduled for June 25th at this moment, Toy Story 3 is opening the week before and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse just five days later.
Opening the same week as "Hornet" are Robert Rodriguez's Predators and the animated Despicable Me.

Green Hornet is going to bomb because, its between Toy Story 3, long awaited animated sequel and Twilight 3, huge series nowadays.

so, in 2010, we have iron man 2... and um.... well, that's all, really. you know, it's a shame they are just plopping out comic book movies like they're crap now. really. the market is going to get saturated again and they'll go bankrupt again. it's nice to see things i love get eaten and crapped back out by hollywood to make the poser, abercrombie/ hollister-wearing, emo masses happy. sure i may just be another jaded gen-x fanboy who is way too maladjusted to the real adult world and clings a little too much to his comics, but dammit, it was my hard-earned allowance money that allowed those companies to continue, so forgive me if i feel entitled to a decent comic movie. the rest of the mainstream movie goers can have their vin diesel and CGI kiddie movies, I don't mind. I won't complain.

I'll be seeing Predators that week, not Green Hornet. Toy Story 3 will still be #1 the week Green Hornet opens, then it will get smashed by Twilight. That's a bad release week if you ask me. I'd push it back even further. It's got no room to have legs at the box office.

Get someone serious to play the hornet. Seth Rogen is so wrong for this.

Damn I forgot about this movie.

Cant believe that Predators movie is really moving forward after the two last rat turds that came out called AVP. Lets see if FOX actually cares about this one.

2011 will be the killer summer- Spider-Man 4, Thor, Green Lantern, Captain America, Transformers 3, and the final Harry Potter. There'll barely be room to breathe.

This movie generates about as much excitement as hearing that Oprah Winfrey just quit Jenny Craig.
To turn a character like the Green Hornet into a comedy seems to be in bad taste. Would you do that with The Lone Ranger? Zorro? Shazam?
Are they trying to follow in the footsteps of previous TV shows/turned movies, such as: The Dukes of Hazzard, Starsky & Hutch, Charlie's Angels? Were any of those good?
Really???
Go serious with this movie, cast a credible leading man, and make "Kato" Jet-Li - sure, add some humor, but don't make it a ridiculous embarassment that promises to fail before it even begins shooting.
By the way,... I like Seth, and think he's a decent actor... just not the guy for a superhero role, unless you're talking about "Bouncing Boy" from Legion of Superheroes.

Two whole weeks? Well, I'd better march my happy azz over to the calendar and COMPLETELY REARRANGE MY SCHEDULE around this announcement.
One question - how did the other 1930s radio hero franchise do at the box office? That's right; it was critically panned.

@Really??? - Nice.
I'm just an old man, but my take is that Seth as the Green-Hornet is like a near-sighted hippo on roller-skates.
Or is that Oprah Winfrey OFF Jenny Craig is like a near-sighted hippo on roller-skates?
Either way,... somebody's losing a box of Twinkies.

THey should just push it direct to DVD.

@Drunkalete
I know, but don't worry about FOX,because Robert " Mother blucking" Rodriguez is making a
Predator movie. called Predators, plural.I don't mind and I like that sort of thing......P.S. The Deadpool movie will be amazing, i don't care if FOX is making it.

@kmaguire
I couldn't agree with you more bro with the exception of Spider-Man 4 and Harry Potter of course. Sam Raimi is slowly killing the franchise by making Spider-Man good, then great, then horrible, and the next installment sounds about dead. I could never get into Harry Potter cuz he uses crappy magic tricks. Where's the fire? Lightning? Anything cool? You're a freakin teenager now so DO SOMETHING WORTH WATCHING DAMN IT!!! Anyway, 2011 will be a great year for movies for sure cuz the world ends in 2012 LMFAO!!! Anyway, all joking aside, Green Hornet will be a HUGE joke at the box office and will be CRUSHED by Toy Story 3 and super duper tween girl mega hit Twilight: Eclipse. Nuff said lol.

I first thought Seth Rogan would blow as The Green Hornet, then I heard he was NOT going to make it a comedy but a drama. Then I saw him lose weight for the role. If he is that determined to lose all that weight, he may just be really pumped enough to do a good Job. Everyone thought Micheal Keaton was going to suck as Batman and Personally, I was very pleasantly suprised. Jet Li is too old for Kato with Seth Rogan as Green Hornet so maybe an unknown and give them a chance to make it big as Kato. My 2 cents
Posted by: nel on July 1, 2009 at 21:10:18
green hornet could be mattd damon or mark whalberg while kato should be donnie yen who else move as fast as donnie and he could really move like bruce lee! That's it end of the story!

green hornets gonna do well no matter what cause seth rogan has a huge fan base right now people go see his crap movies just cause hes in it
Posted by: Steve the Dude on July 1, 2009 at 22:09:48
Seth Rogen fat or slim is still a RFUGLY comedian who cannot act. Both Zack and Miri Make a Porno and Observe and Report were flops!
I knew this proposed crap-fest was going to get pushed back because the Karate Kid remake is out June 11 2010.
They need to move it back even more id they want to avoid competing with Grown Ups.
This has been a mistake. Sony need to fire Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Michel Gondry ASAP or let this thing die!
Posted by: shazam on July 1, 2009 at 22:38:58
Sad to see the hornet go in this direction. You could make this a moody film, showing a dark rainy city and focus on the partnership of an unlikely duo, cleaning up the streets from the mob. So much more potential then I think they are going to give it.
Posted by: Mike Bay on July 2, 2009 at 00:12:34
rogen is pretty cool seems like but i had no idea this movie was still being made, ugh.
Posted by: Hal Jordan Jr. on July 2, 2009 at 05:07:58
seth rogen = no way for green hornet so whatever date they decide doesnt matter!
Posted by: Old School Tim on July 2, 2009 at 10:08:03
Green Hornet is going to open with a very loud thud, as if Eddie Murphy or Will Ferrell was the star of it. Whatever genius decided on Seth Rogen is probably the same guy that used to keep giving Pauly Shore opportunities.
