In just a few short days, the long wait will be over and fans who've been waiting for 25 years to see a live-action "G.I. Joe" movie will have a chance to check out Stephen Sommers' G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Hopefully, you've already read our exclusive interview with Mr. Sommers (here) or Heather Newgen's set visit (here), but Superhero Hype! was one of the few outlets who were given access to four of the movie's main stars.

Channing Tatum (Step Up) takes on the role of Conrad "Duke" Hauser, the newest recruit to General Hawk's elite team of highly-trained soldiers; Marlon Wayans plays his best friend, Corporal Wallace A. Weems aka "Ripcord." Sienna Miller takes on the role of the beautiful but deadly Baroness, while Rachel Nichols (Star Trek) is Shana O'Hara, better known as the fierce Southern Belle with the codename of "Scarlett."

Superhero Hype! sat down with the four actors to talk about their roles and what they took from the original comics and cartoons. You can see the best bits from our interviews with the four stars in the video below.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra opens everywhere this Friday, August 7.

Unrevealing video is unrevealing.

Don't know why everyone is dissing this movie....
What did you expect?
It looks really dumb but really fun too.
This is the kinda movie you want to see on the big screen. Crazy-wild-outrageous-sci-fi action.
I'm there.

so does anyone else think that Paramount did NOT release this movie for an early critic's viewing for any other reason than they think the movie sucks?

"According to the Associated Press, the studio doesn't want a repeat of the unfavorable reviews that "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" received earlier this summer."
-Yahoo Movies

Um, didn't TF2 land in the #1 spot two weeks in a row, come in at #2 for all-time 5 day domestic grossing just short of TDK, and will more than likely be the top domestic grossing movie of the year despite horrible reviews? Way to go Paramount on backing up your director, cast, and staff. That's even worse than giving it a chance with the critics from a principle pov.

Easy on the popups, pooperherohype. And somebody should make a live action Gargoyles film.

the kid from the tv series "Third rock from the sun" is the Cobra Commander!!! dont know his name...he was in Havoc and he is in 500 days of summer! everyone saying this movie is gonna suck...i kinda agree with it...but i'll see it anyway 'cause it will be fun and Sienna Miller looks really hot and exactly like Baroness.

There were a lot of people who felt the negative reviews were fairly accurate. A big reason for the movie's success was hype and the fact the first movie was done so much better than its sequel.

I personally don't expect much from G.I. Joe outside of the hope it won't butcher the many years of lore that is out there. I look forward to seeing it in 2 days.

Yeah, why don't we see CC and Destro actors in any of these interviews?

Posted by: Tupac's bullet wounds on August 5, 2009 at 09:07:30

who's hotter? the chick playing scarlett or the one playing the baroness?

Posted by: craigers23 on August 5, 2009 at 09:21:57

They didn't wanna offend anyone by giving Cobra Commander his real mask from the cartoon cause it too closely resembled a kkk mask in their minds. First of all his mask is blue and sometimes black unlike a kkk mask and its not pointed. Honestly were way too sensitive in this country and there's WAY too much white guilt. I got black friends who think its ridiculous too. The movie looks nothing like the cartoon!! They want it to appeal to mainstream so they forget about the fans that made it popular in the first place.

Posted by: craigers23 on August 5, 2009 at 09:24:24

In my opinion Scarlett(Rachel Nichols)is hotter.

Posted by: Wyngarde on August 5, 2009 at 09:31:45

It feels like SSH has become the G.I. Joe website. I can't wait for this movie to bomb and then we get back to REAL news!

Posted by: Wyngarde on August 5, 2009 at 09:35:13

Mr. President,

You are correct. That's what we want to see.

BUT when you call it G.I. Joe, then we expect something different. The bar has been raised.

It's this kind of logic that has destroyed the job market.

I think it's amazing that so many people have formed opinions about a movie they've never seen. Since they are angry little teenagers, the opinion is usually negative and must be presented as loud and as often as possible so that others may think them wise and popular.

Posted by: Arggie on August 5, 2009 at 10:32:12

Wow, idk if its the built in advertisement that throws it off, but that video player sucks. I had to turn my speakers way up just to hear the action scenes that i couldn't see because of buffering issues.

Posted by: Gobbeldygook on August 5, 2009 at 10:34:11

I agree with Wyngarde. Calling it GI Joe gives everyone the expectation it will be like the cartoon and comic they grew up with. If they weren't going to go that route, they should have called it, "Super Action Ranger Fun Time" or some other such fitting bs.

I´m looking forward to this movie. Not waiting for a 11 academy awards winner movie, but for an entertaining one.

Bail Robra!!!!!!!!

The early reviews for this are actually good I was not looking forward to this but now I kind of am. Especially since every movie this summer ate ass hopefully this could be mindless action thats fun unlike mindless action thats way too long and boring like transformers 2

Posted by: jab on August 5, 2009 at 10:56:57

^^ Sorry except for trek that was good

Posted by: Venom on August 5, 2009 at 12:16:02

It doesn't bother me that Paramount didn't release this movie for Critics review because I understand that many critics did not grow up watching GI Joe and so there views are skewed. Either way I am going to see this movie and from what I am hearing it is action packed with cool gadgets/vehicles and big explosions. They also say that it is geared towards 10 year old boys and that is what basically GI Joe is (toys, comics, cartoons) from when we were kids. It doesn't need to win any Oscars just be as close to the origin of GI Joe as you can and it should be fine.

Go into you tube and type ghi joe sygma 6. Decent anime..

Fanboys no nothing - CHUMPS

Posted by: Ace on August 5, 2009 at 12:27:39

According to early reviews, the movie is actually good. I wasn't looking forward to that movie, but after reading these reviews, I'm ready for some kick-ass action.

Posted by: Wolverine_X on August 5, 2009 at 13:02:00

The star of this movie is Ray Park. It's the only character that brings coolness to the movie and GI Joe's spirit.

I think that the battle between Snake eyes and Storm Shadow White Cobra Ninja it's the best chemistry of the movie. The rest of it it's guys wearing Halo suits all equal that it has nothing to do with GI Joe. But let's wait and see.

Posted by: Stylez on August 5, 2009 at 13:25:26

Scarlett is hotter IMO. But you're splitting hairs choosing between the two.

Posted by: Mario A Kusakabe JR on August 5, 2009 at 13:51:41

I really don`t know why is everyone hating this movie, It looks like your typical Summer movie but with a decent story line, NOT like Transformers 2 but hey the movie was a special Fest, and G.I-Joe will be better then Transformers story plot anyway, but maybe on ACTION as well some of those sequence look good...

Posted by: Cobra Commander on August 5, 2009 at 14:06:35

ANYONE who lets a review (I.E. someone else's opinion) decide how they feel about a movie is a freaking mindless idiot. Go out and see the movie, form your OWN opinion of the movie. Geez...ignorance...
