Dragonball Sequel Already Written?
Source:MTV
April 3, 2009

Dragonball Evolution star Justin Chatwin told MTV that a sequel to the film has already been written:

"I know they've written a second one and it's pretty far out there," actor Justin Chatwin told MTV News. Chatwin plays Goku, the hero of the tale, who seeks to recover the powerful "Dragonballs" and protect the world from the evil Lord Piccolo, played by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum James Marsters.

"The second one really goes to some different places that I've never seen in any comic book adaptation," said Chatwin.

Chatwin admits that he hasn't read the sequel script firsthand, but that he's been told a lot about it and that he and co-star Emmy Rossum (Bulma) would jump at the chance to return for more.

Dragonball Evolution opens in theaters on Friday, April 10th.

ehhhhhh
haven't seen the first yet to see if it deserves a sequel.

Posted by: WTF on April 3, 2009 at 12:48:41

Don't you need a followup to see if the first is successful or not?
What were they thinking?

Posted by: Whocares on April 3, 2009 at 12:54:31

I wonder if Vegeta will be in that one. Or will they make their own story.

Posted by: hiphopopotamus on April 3, 2009 at 12:55:31

however many movies it takes to get to the dragonball Z sagas! i don't care how many sequels they make, i want to see trunks! and vegeta! and gohan! and good guy piccolo! this next one should be DBZ and it should be like saiyan - end of frieza saga, would that work? i think?

Posted by: Darkseid on April 3, 2009 at 12:55:36

Hollywood does that now. Secure dates before actors are signed and scripts are written for movies. I don't think it would be a surprise to anyone that they planned on making more movies for a series like this. Can't make one dragonball movie and plan on it being the only movie without having Goku fighting Vegeta at some point. Fanboys would riot. I'm pretty sure they are anyway over this one

Dragonball was awful enough. I don't want to see them go into DBZ territory and potentially ruin Vegeta, one of my favorite characters of all time, period.

Its kindof sucks that chatwin wants to do another. Young Goku he can pull off, but how will he be able to have gohan and go super saiyan? He's too young and skinny.

Bring on Jet Li as Vegeta.

I still have hope this movie can be good and will see it opening night.

no men, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Chatwin must have suffered some sort of head injury on the set.

interesting

I really don't understand why you guys are crapping all over this movie. I mean, I do, it's because you all want to join the "look at me I'm a super cool internet hipster because I hate everything" bandwagon, but seriously, to me, it looks like a fun, light-hearted popcorn movie. But then again, I enjoyed both Fantastic Four movies, so I guess I'm fairly easy to please.

Oh god why are they raping my child hood =/

Posted by: Mack on April 3, 2009 at 13:24:27

Your childhood was asking for it, yea that ***** wanted it.

I enjoy how they're chatting about the sequel before the first one is even released. Remember when the Wachowskis and Warner Bros were talking up a sequel to Speed Racer? Yeah, this is the tell tale sign, that the movie is going to suck. And suck badly. Lol.

Posted by: SHIELD on April 3, 2009 at 13:31:41

I predict it will be another bad franchise, but what do I know. I suppose I could check Secret Intelligence on that one.

Posted by: Monkeys Uncle on April 3, 2009 at 13:47:12

If this one is Dragonball, then the sequel should be Dragonball Z. Where Piccolo is good and Vegita comes to Earth.

Posted by: TheWon on April 3, 2009 at 13:55:24

Ya but that Piccolo is KIng Piccolo and not Ma Jr aka Piccolo Jr. Please god don't let them destory Z like the killed Dragonball

The squeal script was written and after Dragon Ball's opening weekend, it's going into the trash. Right next to the Speed Racer squeal script.

I've seen the movie and it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Honestly, I can't believe how crappy it is. Written by a 6-year-old. I think that would have been way better.
It's Halle Berry's Catwoman-like bad. Perhaps even worse Than X3.

I saw this crap last week and believe me, if they makes any money at the box office, I will be really surprised. It was the best comedy of the year and the actors really cant believe they did a good job on this. Nobody involved on that set likes Dragonball at all judging from the film. A 40 million dollar budget doesnt make a Dragonball movie. Anyone hired just needed the money. Put the real Dragonball material out of your brain and just look at it as a film. I havent seen stuff like this adapted so poorly with no respect in a long time. I couldnt even watch it drunk. If this movie is targeted to kids, they must thing kids are mindless poltergiest souls with no knowledge of what they are as human beings. Im not taking my kid to this because he loves the cartoons and even he would fall asleep on this. I recommend netflix for this or torrent watch. NO money should be spent on this. You dont want to waste your hard earned money for crap like this especially with how the economy is right now. Unless you dont care of course.

And there is no way on this earth that I will pay to see a sequel with a FOX casted Vegeta. Who will no doubt probably be a College Rival for Goku. Yuck.

Posted by: Cory on April 3, 2009 at 14:32:23

I don't think I would watch Rush Hour 4 or 5 regardless.

Posted by: Snorkllz on April 3, 2009 at 14:57:55

Well the sequel couldn't be any worse... can it?

Posted by: CHAOS on April 3, 2009 at 15:02:33

I know that alot of people either think that Dragonball will bomb or that it doesn't deserve a chance but people need to understand that whether it does good or not it still deserves a chance. The Dragonball universe is the biggest anime out there. If it weren't then we might be seeing something like Sailor Moon. Heaven help us all if that happens. Just trying to do a Dragonball movie is an accomplishment all it's own. The story line in the movie is a little sketchy. Where's Krillin? Mai worked with Emporer Pilaf. Not Piccolo. The movie does have a few flaws but I'm sure that it will be good enough to make even the biggest Dragonball fans like me and people that have no idea what it is see it again and again. I hope they do have a sequel ready and hopefully there will be more than one. Chatwin is a grea actor in his own right so dont give him too hard of a time. I do believe that Vegeta would be best portrayed by Jet Li, Goku by Jason Statham (because of the martial arts), and even Bill Goldberg as Nappa.
