Still a Marvel fan, but I've gotta say, TDK had a good screenplay.

No reason to hate TDK just because so many others love it. That's elitism.
TDK definitely deserves this nomination. The writing is fantastic not just as a batman movie, but as a film in general. The theme is so subtle yet clear and cohesive. It's wonderfully put together.

Go Dark Knight!
The NHL sucks!

Well, TDK was adapted from comic books and graphic novels just like the rest of the nominated movies where adapted from their respective books, novels, and plays. So in a way, it does kinda belong in this category. Even though it doesn't really stand much of a chance against the rest of those films.

One word: overrated.
Posted by: Marvel on January 7, 2009 at 15:59:50
Dark knights script is so shallow.
The dialogue is horrendous! Ironman has MARTIN SCORSESE esque dialogue! Snappy and natural, delivered perfectly by the BEST ACTOR OF OUR GENERATION DOWNEY JR JR.

It is nice to be nominated but TDK won't win. I recently saw Benjamin Button. I think that story was better than TDK. Neither will win though. I am going with Frost/Nixon.

Marvel, I challenge you to coherently argue how TDK's script was "shallow". And while were at it, Christian Bale is the best actor of our generation, as far as consistency and dedication to/for roles. Downey Jr was great in Iron Man but was really only playing off his own image. Personally, i consider his performance in Tropic Thunder to be far superior. Bales performance in TDK was much more dualistic and complex, both in terms of maintaining a fractured identity and effectively displaying moral dilemmas.

Hey I loved Iron Man, but it was a popcorn movie nothing else. That is not a critisim, but it didn't have anything near the depth of Dark Knight.
And as much as I liked TDK it won't get the Oscar. I agree with house it will go to Frost/Nixon

I see it more of an honor that a film based on Comic Books will see a nomination in this category, first time I could think of that happening...props to the genre for sure. Hopefully this makes any future comic based films more focused on in depth storytelling as opposed to pure processed cheese that seemed to be the stigma attached to these films for quite some time. Although as for winning...Slumdog Millionaire hopefully will take it, very well written and an excellent adaptation.
