Alan Horn Clears Up Dark Knight Sequel Rumors
December 18, 2008
With all the rumors swirling around the internet about possible casting for Warner Bros.' sequel to the record-breaking box office blockbuster The Dark Knight--absolutely none of them true as yet--Collider had a chance to talk briefly with Alan Horn, the President of Warner Bros., and probably the one man who would know more than anyone else about anything going on with this highly-anticipated project.
He got straight to the point when asked about progress on the sequel: "We've been talking to Chris Nolan and what we have to do is get him in the right place and have him tell us what he thinks the notion might be for a great story, but Chris did a great job and we'd love to have him come back and do another one."
As far as the timing of the project, he went onto say: "The story is everything and we are very respectful of Chris. We have a wonderful relationship with him and we are going to be respectful of his timing and we want to get it right. Also, I think the fans expect that – they want us to make a terrific movie – we have to give them another great movie."
In the interview, Horn also expressed interest in bringing back Superman and confirmed that they're very close to rolling on a movie starring DC's other power player, Green Lantern. (In fact, earlier this week Dark Horizons reported that Australia was vying for the latter project, but nothing has been confirmed as far as a start date.)

I think we'll see Green Lantern in 2010. WB should grab that first weekend in August (August 6) or the first weekend in June (June 4) quickly. Right now, Warner Bros. has nothing slated for the summer of '10 except Zack Snyder's Guardians of Ga'Hoole.
(And enough with the "First" crap, kids.)

I don't think that the rumors come without having some truth behind them. I think someone slipped the idea out because i already knew about the interest of Eddie Murphy as the Riddler (blagghhh, Oh no). I think Chris Nolan is taking Batman to a new edge and i believe his greatest concern nowadays may be who will replace Heath Ledger. If the movie has this great success, Heath contribution as the Joker is huge. That was a great performance and that was the Joker as he should be: psycotic, intelligent, deadly with humor mixed. Chris should continue with the Batman/Joker civil war and for know maybe the riddler or a catwoman should help for the anarchy. Forget Robin or we will get again a Joel Shumacher movie.

I would love to see a Green Lantern movie that is very respectful to the comics (Geoff Johns' run). I'm sure the fanboys are waiting a GL movie for a long time now.

I say have Superman Vs. Batman the movie, they made enough money to have another blockbuster!! Just like the old skool comic books from back in the day. Have them against each other, then them fighting together to take out the main villian.

i would love to see them bring in the riddler alongside joker, and have joker send bane and some other sideshow freaks to dismantle batman.as for superman im not to interested unless they use a big villain next go roung like parasite,or doomsday. i also think a wonderwoman movie would be hot if she was in the amazon and some modern men came over and she had to protect them in her hidden land from giant snakes and thing's like that.

WOW! Two totally non-news posts in a row about the same subject. Why do these sites post these stupid casting rumors? We know the film hasn't even been conceived yet.

That guy that plays the creepy f***er in "LOST" to play The Riddler would be GREAT. But you'd still need a killer villain (you don't want to turn riddler into a killer like they did in Batman Forever)

To debunk them because they aren't true. Why is that hard for you to understand?

In other words Mr Horn- "we are making every attempt to lower his pants and kiss his british arse because we would love another billion dollars of revenue"
Nolan will do what he wants when he wants.
I am completely satisfied with TDK and have no problem if Batman is put on the shelf while other DC heroes make it to the screen. Nolan made his own universe so putting Batman with other heroes isn't going to work (Batman vs Superman)- unless its a different director.
And these rumors are stupid. Nolan now has alot of say so when it comes to Batman and the casting goes thru him and so everyone can go ahead and rest easy because Eddie Murphy,Rachel Weisz and Shia LeKweer won't be in ANY Batman film directed by Nolan. Rachel would have the best chance but not as Catwoman.
David Tennant,Jude Law and Rufus Sewell are the only 3 possible Riddler candidates Nolan would remotely consider with a BIG IF...if he chooses to have Riddler. He also has alot of respect for Joaquin Phoenix but he is apparently retired from acting.
As for Catwoman who the heck knows and why would she be needed?
THERE WILL BE NO ROBIN -PERIOD.

Sensible thinking....keep Nolan involved and let him do it, even if we have to wait a few years...im fine with that.

i wanna get some GL news soon
i really look forward to that
as for Superman, just give it to Geoff Johns already!!!

I keep asking myself how they can possibly make a sequel without re-making TDK...? It NEEDS to feature a classic villain, but how can any Nolan-ized villain compare to Heath Ledger's Joker??? Or...how can the sequel's villain stand up in Ledger's shadow...?

it can't and it won't

Forget The Joker. I would rather NOT have WB screw with Heath's performance. They should continue the crime war. They should have Black Mask seige Gotham with the False Face Society. And as a minor character have the Penguin as a British arms dealer arming the 'New Mob'. And throw in Rupert Thorne in the political mix and Deadshot for some spice. Don't forget to add in Dr. Leslie Thompkins (since Gotham General Hospital was destroyed by the joker) as the new head of Gotham General. I swear I should write the film for Chris! I have it all figured out. It would be the ultimate Batman film. Batman would become the hero that Gotham deserves.
