cool, the recognition they both deserve. Conway I believe was the stunt man killed on set?

More of a reason to see this badassery of a film....yes thats a word

i wish heath were around to receive the credit he deserves :/

Posted by: batfan on June 27, 2008 at 02:51:40

how so Wade?

Posted by: Matthew. on June 27, 2008 at 02:53:47

This better stay on screen for a good 30 seconds. Conway's death was a horrible accident, and Heath's was the biggest tragedy in Hollywood since James Dean.

These two deserve endless credit for putting their hearts into the job they loved doing. May they rest in peace.

I absolutely agree with Matthew...this should be on screen a good 30 seconds...RIP guys

Good for them. I expected no less. It's a tragedy for Conway who died for doing his job. So it's good they will include his name to the end credits.

That being said, saying Heath was the biggest tragedy in Hollywood since James Dean? That's going a bit far in delusion land. I mean, the way Brandon Lee died is a far more tragic circumstance then a self-inflicted drug overdose. Callous to point it out, I know, but lets not romanticize the stigma around Ledger's death. It wasn't tragic how Ledger died, it was unfortunate. Just like other young Hollywood actors who abused drugs, like River Phoenix.

Some of you people need to stop putting him on a pedestal. Regardless of how much he entertained you in his few roles, it was a self involving circumstance which led to his death. Not a car accident in a faulty sports car, or a prop malfunction on set, it was drugs.

I'm not saying Heath Ledger is undeserving of the respect and acknowledgment for his work on the film. Because he does deserve it and its good they are including it. I just wouldn't raise him into martyrdom.

From one Aussie to another... RIP Heath, we miss you mate! RIP Conway!

Shortround you should try getting your facts straight. Heath Ledger didn't die of a 'drug overdose' - he died from a severe reaction to the combination of LEGAL medications he was taking. Not quite the same thing. The coroner's report said that NO illegal substances were in his bloodwork. 0. None. So don't smear the guy's name with your uninformed assumptions.

He was filming the movie in which he plays a clown (sorry, name escapes me, Terry Gilliam I think is directing it) and was very sick - reports said he had pneumonia. He was on medications for that and to help him sleep which he had struggled with for some months.

So, the guy wasn't shooting up or something. Having said that I do agree about Brandon Lee, that was simply awful and I can barely stand to watch The Crow - despite my love for the film - knowing that he was murdered making it.

I don't mean to single you out, but people have every right to express their feelings about his loss without someone like you putting them down for it. Much less for reasons which aren't even correct.

I think it's great that they will acknowledge the people who passed away before this movie had a chance to hit the screens. It's very tragic that these two people died before their time.

I've been a fan of Heath Ledger since The Patriot and have followed his work throughout the years. He's a terrific actor and a seemingly down to earth guy.

I don't think it is wrong whatsoever that he has millions of people mourning him. Nobody should judge another person's grief.

R.I.P. This movie will be a living legend of these two amazing men involved.

Posted by: Robert on June 27, 2008 at 03:47:10

RIP, great to see they are getting the respect they deserve.

Here's to hoping people in the audience show it the full respect it deserves when it is shown. I can't wait for the movie.

Posted by: Bethany on June 27, 2008 at 03:50:08

I think that Heath Ledger's work in this film will be what defines it, at least from what the trailers have shown. There are also a couple of reviews popping up online that seem to echo that.

People said he did not have the charisma or energy or presence to deserve this role (even I thought it was a peculiar choice) but every new glimpse of his take on this character that I see proves he did. There isn't an ounce of Heath in any of that footage.. he truly lost himself in the role in my opinion.

My mom, who has seen a handful of his movies and knows exactly who he is, actually did not believe that the Joker in this new trailers was Heath Ledger until I proved it by showing her cast information. Who remembers Charlize Theron in Monster? Remember how NO ONE believed that was her?

I won't pretend to know how great of a person he was in real life or anything of the sort.. but much like Brandon Lee he was undoubtedly a talented actor whose life ended just as he was on the verge of showing just how amazing he could be on screen. And much too young at that.

R.I.P. Heath!

RIP Heath and Conway

Posted by: TheOracle8191 on June 27, 2008 at 04:02:25

I wonder if a memoriam would've been done for Conway had Ledger not died...

Posted by: Spider-ham on June 27, 2008 at 04:12:56

Heath Ledger was miscast in the role of the Joker. In a normal circumstance, this would probably kill the whole movie. But because he recently died a bunch of over-reacting F***heads are probably gonna see the movie regardless and make it a hit. Just so they can say "Look he was a genius I told you"! Newsflash: just cuz he's dead doesn't make him Laurence Olivier! Cuz he wasn't! He was a mediocre actor at best! The truth hurts! Deal with it!

Posted by: man1985 on June 27, 2008 at 04:18:02

That's a very good question TheOracle8191. Kind funny to think about something like that huh? I mean Nolan is very classy so I'm almost sure he would've had something for Conway even if Heath hadn't died. The real question is would the general audience have even noticed if the memorium only had his name. Certainly the media wouldn't give damn, but since it does include Ledger (RIP by the way. Much respect) I'm sure we won't hear the end of it from shows like E.T. and Hollywood Insider and the like.

Posted by: reek on June 27, 2008 at 04:23:54

The question I have is whether or not Ledger receives a posthumous best supporting actor nomination for his role as the Joker. Judging only from the intensity of the trailers and the comments of his co-stars, most specifically Michael Caine, I think it's a better than even bet. Sad and jaded though it may be to say, his untimely passing is what makes the nomination more likely.
For my part, I hope he is every inch as intense as the hype indicates so that he deserves and receives a nomination. Despite my deeply held belief that every member of the academy is huffing glue and as such is too high to differentiate between "good" and "crap" most of the time, the legitimacy of a nomination would help the genre and set a high benchmark for performances in future bat flicks, if not all mainstream comic movies.
Or perhaps I'm huffing glue.

Spider-ham people were singing his praises even before he died. The first trailer came out in November, and altough it was just a short glimpse, a lot of people had a real positive reaction to his performance. I know I for one was really impressed from the little that I saw.

It is kind of true what you are saying though. Since his death his already awesome preformance (again based on what we had seen) was elevated to another level.

Whatever though. Heath is dead (RIP). The media is going to latch all over that. The only thing we can do is try to ignore them and watch his performance and make up our own minds.
