Christian Bale on Batman, Heath Ledger and More
Source:DETAILS magazine
May 28, 2008

Christian Bale is on the cover of the June/July issue of DETAILS, on stands nationwide June 3rd. He talks about Heath Ledger, panic over the bat suit, and self-destructing. Here's a clip on Heath:

"He was incredibly intense in his performance but incredibly mellow and laid-back. Certainly there was this great anarchistic streak to it-just getting dirtier than anybody's envisioned the Joker before. Naturally it was something I wanted to share with him-and expected to do so. And I can't do anything else but hope that it will be an absolutely appropriate celebration of his work."

Great, cant wait. Is it me or does Bale look alittle old in that pic. I mean you can see his wrinkles

Posted by: Knight Rat on May 28, 2008 at 02:52:57

No, Farzan, he doesn't look old...he looks real. That's the mark of a true star...one who doesn't need fancy photoshopping to make him look better...

Oh, and I had the immense honor and joy of being an extra on two scenes of this movie. I saw Heath Ledger up close during the filming of one scene. He was intense, but treated everyone around him with great respect....a true professional (unfortunately to the last...). He will be missed.

That jacket is the best. I cannot wait for this movie

AGHHHH! July 18 seems like a lifetime to wait. This movie will be the number one hit of the summer. I like Iron Man but Dark Knight will just blow marvel out of the water. If only DC can make other decent movies of their characters. Oh by the way who ever makes the next Superman movie, heres some advice NO LEX LUTHER! Honestly, we can only take Lex as a bad guy for so long. Give Superman someone he can beat the ever living **** out of. Oh yeah and get a better cast for the Justice League movie DC, honestly Adam Brody as Flash, hahaha.Try Ryan Reynolds better.

Idiot!

Anyway, he looks like a pimp! And this movie can't comeout soon enough. Damn it!

Posted by: Sheesh on May 28, 2008 at 05:01:19

Sheesh guys, Farzan didn't say he's 'ugly', or that he/she's better looking than him. God he just asked if others also thought he looked old, that's it. So he's an idiot for that?

Kool Moe Joe. Please swallow a knife.

No matter where I go to read forum comments there has to be some kind of name calling and trouble making. for the love of Joe Pesci, comment on the article and stop the hating. It's sad I have to share my love of Batman with people who just wish to rabble rouse.

Can someone please explain the Joker's make up to me? In the comics, how does he get like that? And does anyone know what the story line is for TDK? I mean, Heath's Joker always looks different. Sometimes his make up is fresh, then worn off. Where as Jack's Joker was like that permanantly after he fell in that vat of chemicals. Jack's Joker was always made up the same, unless he himself put on the flesh tone make up. I guess I'm kinda confused, so if someone could clarify, that would be awesome!! Thanks guys, hope my question made sense....

why so serious forum hater?

To Barber23
.

[SPOILER ALERT]

.

The idea behind the Jokers look is that he is not bleached white nor is his lips and hair discolored by a vat of chemicals, rather he is scarred on his mouth in the form of a smile and just a plain sciopath. Using his scarring he puts on make up, dyes his hair and adopts the moniker of the Joker. This in mind, Nolan wanted to show a progression of the Joker throughout the movie by slowly letting his make up worsen thus giving an idea of his personality. At least according to what I have read on line...

Not so serious. Just would prefer to see comments based on the topic material versus childish arguing and name calling. we're all fans of the same thing and should feel free to express our opinions relative to what the forum is about without having someone cut you down for it. True it is the very essence of ones opinion to disagree but one can disagree without disrespect and name calling and evil comments meant to provoke an argument or other malignant comments.
