Exclusive TMNT: Mutant Nation #1 Covers & Release Date

SuperHeroHype is revealing an exclusive look at the TMNT: Mutant Nation #1 covers, as well as when the IDW spin-off comic will release.

According to IDW, TMNT: Mutant Nation will go on sale beginning on September 18, 2024, when the new ongoing series will hit store shelves. Preorders will be available soon, with a preorder deadline set for August 12, 2024.

The first issue of the comic will consist of two stories, with the first lasting 20 pages and the second encompassing 10. Story 1 will be written by Waltz and drawn by Vincenzo Federici, with colorist Ronda Pattison also attached. Story 2 will be written by Erik Burnham, with art by Mateus Santolouco and colors by Marco Lesko and Rus Wooton.

The series is one of several Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles spin-off comic series that were revealed by IDW earlier this year, and will be created by Tom Waltz and Sophie Campbell. Each arc in Mutant Nation will feature two different stories focusing on different parts of the overarching TMNT universe.

The covers for issue #1 of the comic will be drawn by several artists. Cover A will be done by Javier Fernandez, Cover B will be drawn by Vincenzo Federici, Cover C will be done by TMNT fan-favorite Mateus Santolouco, a special RI 1:10 cover will be drawn by Jesse Lonergan, and a 40th Anniversary Cover will be done by Jim Lawson, a mainstay in the TMNT comic world dating back to the comic’s “Mirage” era.

The new series is set after the events of “The Armageddon Game” comic arc, and finds the group of iconic turtles at a crossroads, trying to keep their family united while also dealing with the struggles of wanting to break apart and explore their own lives now that the world knows about mutant.
